Default Hoosier Size, need HELP!

Hey guys,

The RA-1s on my car are at the end of their lives and I wanted to switch to R6 since the price has gone unreasonably up ever since the discontinuance of the RA-1 for P-cars... They're almost the same price as R6, so why not swap?

I know about the search function but I haven't found anything yet

Anyways, I was wondering if 255/35/18 and 315/30/18 would fit without any rubbing issues. I'm sure a lot have tried it. I have a NB 997 with 9x18 and 12x18 CCW wheels.

I'd really appreciate all your input! Thanks

www.speedforsale.com has some shaved and unshaved RA1's for sale at good prices. I bought a set (shaved) of 245 and 305's for my 997S for 1/2 price vs. new. They are 4 years old.

Thanks for the input everyone! Here's the deal:

I'll be driving to and from the track. So I want it to last as long as possible. BUT, the fact is there is not much price difference between R888, RA1 and R6. So the thing is how long would R6 last on the street and will it fit without any rubbing issue?

Hoosier R6 is not the ideal tire for the street, I understand they are still street legal, but also they are easier to puncture, due to lighter rolling band.

I use Hoosier's 255/35-18 and 335/30-18 on my 2008 NB 997 GT3, but I have wheels with just the right offsets.

Bad idea to drive Hoosiers to the track unless is is a very short distance.
Likely to puncture and suicide if ir rains.

I guess you guys are right...

I am quite happy with RA1 except for the price increase recently It just pisses me off to see that I'm paying the same amount to get a set of RA1 as Hoosiers!

MSPC is extremely expensive for what they offer, they don't last long at all

I understand your frustration, but if you want dual purpose tire, you will have to take some compromises.
My first year I was always driving to Sebring, I was lucky I never had a problem with the car at the track, or on the highway driving under those South Florida deluges on less than optimal rain tires, it's just not safe.

In the other hand, the more you go to the track (the more you get infected with track disease)... the more likely is that you will end up with track dedicated wheels/tires, trailer, track support,...
Ask me how I know,...It's just a matter of time

Yeah, you might as well order the Dually and 48' trailer now. You will eventually..
