Default Proper Upshifting technique on a 997 GT3

Hello everybody, I'm doing time trials on my 997 GT3 and soon some club racing... I want to ask you guys if at the track you do a complete "lift" of the accelerator pedal during upshift's or if it's possible to do a partial lift of the pedal in order to keep as much acceleration as possible (shortening the actual "shift or neutral time") this also could reduce the weight transfer unsettling the car,... I see some professional guys (like Leh Keen) doing smooth shifts and at a very high speed, it also seems like if he doesn't do a complete lift of the accelerator, (I know this guy is not "normal")
If I could do something like this, then the decision to shift or not to shift would be easier.

thanks for your opinions,
gf.

Yes, you have to lift or parts will fall out. Don't be fooled by video from track cars that have a sequential box and no-lift shifts w/ ignition cut, not the same as your street GT3.

the golden rule: lift - shift - then flat out!

Yes I Agree, 997 cup car sequential gearbox you do not use clutch and don't lift accelerator on upshift, normal clutch and blipping downshifting though.

But again on a regular H pattern stick shift gearbox, like in a 996 cup car or a 997 street car, is it possible to do partial accelerator lift?
you can check Leh keen video for reference,..

Leh is just plain fast, but he lifts.
Power shifts and sports cars don't get along.

I shift without lifting at all in my 996 Cup. The shift is done just as the limiter kicks in, its all about timing to do it well. This does not cause any additional wear and tear if its done properly but get it wrong and it would be expensive.

That's what I thought!!,
Mark can you please describe your shifting technique in more detail?, Do you still use the clutch during upshift?, does ti require a decisive input on the stick during gear changes?

Honestly, how much time are you saving by doing this? I'm sure there is a way to find more time in your braking, corner entry and exit and better race craft than in power shifting. Just my opinion of course.

When the limiter hits that's a lift. I don't think you can shift this trans without fuel cut/or lifting. In my opinion it's cool that's your style but I don't think you're shaving any time versus someone else who's comfortable/smooth with up shifting the old fashion way.

As Jackie Stewart said (paraphrasing), Be good to the car and she'll be good to you.

a cup car is not the same as a standard road car. i think we have gone off tangent here...
you gotta lift in the road car if you wanna keep it on the road. the op did say '997 gt3', not 'cup'.
