Interesting that in both Cup car video footage (ha), the brake pedals are smooth.. (for ease of rotation for heel 'n toe?) Because all the aftermarket pedal companies seem to always talk about how much traction their pedals have so one does not slip off the pedal?

Why does he clutch in for each multiple downshift (such as around 1:30)? Or is it to just get a little more engine braking withe each downshift? I have a habit of just going from fourth to second on a particular turn at sebring (7). However, I skip right over third and just released the clutch at the appropriate speed in second.

Always go through each gear with down shifting. There has been a ton of discussion on these forums about why...but that is the best for the transmission. VR over on the racing de forum had some good explainations.

It's obviously a sequential based on the full throttle up shifts

However, couldn't he hold the clutch in and and bang down as many gears as he needs without releasing the clutch each time?

I think it's good form to go through all the gears and hone muscle memory this way. It also reduces the chances that a downshift will happen at not quite the right time, resulting in over revs, or not enough. In other words, it's a good technique to mistake proof, even if the gear box could take it, which I am not sure it could.

the car leh keen is driving is a 996 GT3RS (non sequential gearbox version and not be be confused with the later road going GT3rs the ROW got in road going format) for the trainspotters out there
i was taking some pride in my improved H/T until i watched that i realised i had a long long way to go yet.

as for the cup brake pedals. they are covered in an adhesive backed non slip gritpaper. very grippy indeed. they are also wider then the regular pedals by some way, extending closer to the throttle pedal.

i also cant H/T like hurley. being 6'4" with size 12 shoes makes it pretty much impossible. i need to break my leg to make it work. i just roll to the side also.
ive had spells where ive decided that it must be me and i spend a while in the car trying to use my heel but it just doesnt happen for me.

Lea Keen needed 3:44 to pass 70 cars and catch me in that video! For just a brief I held him off. OK 200 feet or so. The ga green car with the yellow wing and mirrors is my former ice car

Here is one of my incar video's with a foot cam. It pops up a few seconds into the video. It was a 2nd camera we were playing with that weekend. Later in the video we aimed it at the left rear suspension.

Why do you tap the brake, with your left foot, during hard acceleration?? just curious.

To make sure he still has a solid pedal before he leaves the braking to the very last second. Many pro drivers tend to use this technique to ensure the brakes are good...

am i right that with any regular non-cup ECU such a 'tap' will kill throttle?

Not sure, with non-GT cars PSM may intervene and kill throttle, with GT cars it won't intervene when switched off... May give it a try tomorrow. Can't hurt to try

Holy crap! Your feet are fast. And your definitely pushing the limits of adhesion on those tires
