Default FIRST glimpse of 2011 458GT racer

Looks impressive ........ appears to be missing to front spoiler which (I would think) affects the testing abilities !

Supposedly this car will have +/- 620HP which will make it tough on the RSR teams for '11

I still think the New RSR is prettier even if it appears to be low on HP

imo the 458 is more of an elegant design, which is lost in translation when it morphs into racer.

Actually they're built by Michelotto:

A F458 GT2 can't have 600+ hp in racing trim. This is pro-racing where FIA and ACO rules play.

This is why the GT3 RSR has been losing power through the years, despite of gaining on engine size and weight.

An interesting read is last month Road and Track where they compared the following cars:

Street F430 vs F430 GT2
997.2 GT3 vs. GT3 RSR
Vette ZR-1 vs. C6.R GT2
Street BMW M3 vs. ALMS BMW M3

If you look at the lap times (by Pro-Drivers) in the race cars, they were all very close regardless of cars. The street cars were all over the place. However, it is remarkable to see how close the 997.2 GT3 and C6 ZR1 get to their racing cars equivalents in regards to lap times. The BMW and F430 performed badly (expected), the GT3 was brilliant, the ZR1 was awesome.

Pat Long drove the Porsches. Check it out...

The 458 is a good looking car. Sort of like a baby Enzo. However, something about this 458 racer says kit car to me.
