I been offered this brand new white/red rims RS by the dealer with all the goodies, half cage, white center dash, alcantara, race buckets ...... (euro spec im not in the states) for an insane amount of $$$.
But car looks so nice in person, im thinking about getting it.
Is it too late to get one, because i heard the new 998 GT3 is coming very soon?? And this 997.2 version aint going to be any cheaper.
Dont wanna pay full sticker if i know the new one is around the corner.
Thanks all.

Limited edition 997.2 GT3 RS coming next spring as a final (we think) hoo ha for 997-based GT3 series. Expect $175k-$200k base. 991-based GT3 likely a few years out if past development cycles hold. Get the car and enjoy it.

Don't know what the dealer is asking, but that is one friggin' beautiful car. If you plan on tracking at all, even DE only, I agree--get it. If it will never see the track, the non-RS might be a better choice--a bit more comfortable, and still amazing on the street or track.

there's no track in taipei and you will be stuck in 2nd gear all day long with a very stiff clutch. i wouldn't do an RS in taiwan. get a F430 or italia with paddles. sounds good, looks good, better car for taiwan.

It's only ever a guess, at best, to try to anticipate used car prices, especially in a model with such limited availability. And you're in Taiwan? I couldn't guess the realistic price for a top shelf example of a GT3 RS in my own back yard (Silicon Valley) let alone an overseas market where the economy might not be in full blown recession ... : ) ... but I would suggest that the final production slots for buyers to have a GT3 RS built to their spec are gone or nearing that point. As soon as that happens, prices will trend upwards -- the immutable law of supply and demand. In the US market, we're heading into winter, so prices will go cold with the weather, but in California, winter lasts, well, hardly much longer than this post, so buyers will start to wake up from their brief hibernation as early as January. I know I get an itchy trigger finger as early as January if I don't already have a track car because there's great driving (track days) to be had without waiting a couple of months for the track "season" to get into swing.

There will always be a "newer" variant or model coming out. If you like the car and can afford it, do it. Tomorrow is promised to no one.

the 998 GT3 is awhile out....... get a 997.2 if you can get it in the 110-120 delta and enjoy it.
If the 998 is all that and a bag of chips, then the 997s wil become good strippers like that of the 996.
however, if the 998 GT3 proves to be a pain in the ***, then the 997s will become coveted like the 993s....

Here we are again staring down the barrel of electric hybrid junk getting bolted on to the 911 and the Carrera GT replacement (918) which will both be wildly expensive and heavy. Another uninvited and radical departure from what any damn customer has asked to have in a 911 for the last 50 years.
The prospect of a longer, bigger 991 smells like a 928 "decision by committee" to be sure that 911 enthusiasts are pushed away from the marque kicking and screaming about the insanity of a big, heavy GT for drivers that have asked for lighter, sharper 911's, not V8's, not bigger rear seat space, not voice recognition navigation back-up camera lane-departure whatever-is-already-on-a-Toyota-for-years ... and then we're asked to pay $2K for a battery to shed 20lbs ...
We (911 drivers) don't mind seeing another Boxster in a smaller size or a mini-Cayenne -- these are abominations of marketing and profitability. Fine. But for Pete's sake, what's the boardroom objection at Porsche to saying "let's build a 997 in the size of a 993" and leave out all the froufrou stuff, build 1000 of 'em and ask $200K and call it good to the tune of $200M top-line. Maybe even demand buyers put them in at least one season of club racing in their country so there's no flippers (but it would still be okay to be a bubble wrapper or collector or concours cue-tip brigadier.) Just a thought. Maybe I need to just build my own 993 and forgetaboutit.
