Default Patrick Long drives the Nürburgring...

...with Jörg instructing him in preparation for Patrick's race debut there at an upcoming VLN endurance race with Manthey Racing. And who says video games aren't useful in helping to learn tracks? : )

ps: TV does not at all capture the speed, elevation changes, & technical challenge of Road Atlanta. Best track I have yet watched a live race at & driven, and well worth attending in person next year if you are even half considering it. Awesome to see 45 cars battling in what often seemed like a 10-hr sprint race.

Joerg is a great guy and he also told me that Road America was his favorite track in the USA... because it reminded him of the ring (his all time favorite track)

here is a interview with him:

Asked him the same question, and of USA tracks he ranked Road America the best, with Road Atlanta a close second.

Patrick also seemed stoked to go race the 'Ring for the first time...of course who wouldn't be?! As has been said before, both Jörg & Patrick are not only great drivers, but great guys as well. I would say they have the best jobs in the world..other than being a WRC driver or MotoGP pilot perhaps.

When is the VLN race Mr. Long will be participating in? Will he be in another RSR or the Hybrid? I've seen an add for tune/performance package for the mk.2 GT3 where power was increased to 473 and in the video it says something about VLN in 2011. Here is the video I saw

Not sure which of the two remaining VLN races Patrick will be at, the DMV 250-Meilen-Rennen on Oct. 16 or DMV Münsterlandpokal on Oct. 30. He said the race is on the Nürburgring, and that he will be racing an unrestricted (meaning more power than his Lizard RSR, also lower weight) Manthey Racing GT3 R non-hybrid.

So his VLN race plans must have changed. Racing in V8 Supercars followed by the GT3 R Hybrid sounds just as fun though!

Speaking of the Hybrid, it was noticeably quicker than the rest of the GT2 field for the first several laps of Petit Le Mans, but then fell off the pace. I had higher expectations for it, & thought it would even finish ahead of the entire GT2 field...
