Default Race Seat install in 977 street body.... ??

installing 997 CUP seats in RS.

the factory OMP brackets do not fit factory holes in floor... thus fabricating something to allow the OMP's to fit factory mounts.

Is it ok if the race seats are lower then factory street seats?

the weight savings and lateral support is awesome! (just no slider adjustment)

anybody else try to install custom brakets and or sliders?

Give brey Krause a holler. I know they have brackets for omp seats to fit on the 996 gt3 sliders. Mike

Are you keeping both RS and making one a stripper?

use the oem slider from 996gt3 shell seats. i dont have part number but they can be bought separately i know b/c i had like 10 of them.

then get either omp or recaro side brackets depending on your seat.

then a fabricator should figure out the rest. no other sliders feel as smooth as this combo.

Just the big fat handle is so much better then the coat hanger rod that comes with recaro.

so you want to mount straight to tub, no using sliders?
just drill more holes. that's how my race car was done.

i tried the oem GT2 sliders, but different widths unfortunately..... are the 996 seat sliders the same fitiment as 997 CUP seats??

I installed 1/2 inch flatbar aluminum strips to the stock floor and used stock bolts. Then i attached the CUP seats via CUP brackets to the flatbar.

So now i have great race buckets, but no sliders, thus they are stationary to the floor in my driving position. (also lower to floor than stock seats)

when i have time this winter i may look at slider applications.

any thoughts about sitting low and having no sliders?

===> well yes and now. i have had omp cup seats as well as recaro cup seats. i always use whatever bracket that would fit the seat to the sliders that came on 996gt3 euro seats. sometimes fabrication is needed.

sitting lower is fine. even with sliders, my seat is 1.5 -2" lower than stock. i take out the whole mounting tray thing on the chassis. have to drill it out.

personally, i like to sit very low. more heard clearance even though i am only 5'8. the fartherest things i see out the front are my wipers.
