Default OT - Audi R8 V10 What would you pay?

Wondering if anyone on this board has an order in for R8 V10? I specced one out but have no idea of pricing. Car to arrive late fall. I'm hearing really high pricing around $160-$170K base. I ordered thinking it would be in the $145K range base plus options. I based this number on taking the price R8 V10 pricing on the Audi UK site, taking off 15% VAT and then converting to US dollars. This calculation works if you compare the R8 V8 pricing in UK vs US. I will probably cancel my order if it is above $150K base price.

The car will be close to $200k with basic options (ACCB, Nav, Stereo).

The few tests I have read so far show poor performance compared to the cars on that price range. My guess is that it won't stand a chance against the 2010 GT3 RS on a track day.

However, it is a beautiful car and the V10 is the right engine. I have seen a few 4.2 selling under $100k, I'm tempted to pick up one, but my passion for Porsche is much bigger, so next car will be a Porsche.

I've got one on order also, but am waiting to see the pricing and reviews. A new GT3 may be a better choice for a lot less money!!

Here is an article from sport auto I was referring to:

http://www.sportauto-online.de/einze...z-1269647.html

0-200 km/h
Audi V10 5.2: 12.9 secs
2008 GT3 RS: 13.5 secs
2010 GT3: 13.2 secs
Nissan GT-R: 13.1 secs
2008 GT2: 11.5 secs.

Hockenheim Lap time:
Audi R8 V10 5.2 - 1:11.9
2010 GT3 - 1:10.4

Pick up a R8 V8 and send to PES in Pennsylvania for supercharging
If they are going for $100K and the s/c is $25K roughly -- and you pick up 140 whp without their methanol injection option -- you have an R8 for $125K that will be more fun than the V10...

No affiliation of course... just putting it out there -- a friend of mine is in process on this exact mod and we spent hours debating the pros and cons

I've heard the V10 version will be approx. $45K over the V8.

the price here in canada is about 182k plus options. drove one last week and was very disappointed. took my deposit off about 1 month prior to this when i bought my 997 gt2 but i thought i'd drive the v10 just in case... well its pretty to look at but its quite slow in the gt2's company. the handling doesn't feel as well sorted as the v8 model. infact, i'd rather have my 06 gallardo back than buy the v10 r8.

Whatever happened to the V12 TDi version they showed at Sebring a few years ago? Just a concept? That would worth a stiff premium, but not the V10, imho.

SC gets you more power and lighter. What's there to debate?

the only con I could think of is that a highly modded R8v8 with miles and tracking would be worth less when it comes to resale...

plus when the V10 was announced it was the latest and greatest and got some very positive press so naturally every happy R8v8 owner was wondering if the new one was that much better maybe they could be that much happier... all BS I think... there should be a factory sc v8 and diesel...

The more I thought about it the sc r8v8 started making more and more sense as long as resale was not a concern... but then again it would not be that hard to take back to stock and part out the s/c etc..

I love the R8 v8 --- have never driven one but have sat in yours and romans and I think they are sublime... the only complaint I have heard was that owners wish they had more power... I think the sc is the best way forward if you love the car and want more power.

What are you waiting for?

Military sales here in Germany is selling the 5.2 v10 for 145k. FWIW military sales is selling GT3s and GT3RS for 3% off MSRP. Needless to say I am waffling between a GT3 and the v10 R8.

since the thread was revived

WARNING
please ignore my PES supercharger advice in post 5 above
it did not work out well for my friend and PES sucks for R8 supercharging... he had nothing but trouble and no support from PES.

I saw one in person about ten days ago. It was a blue R8 V10, and it looked and sounded incredible. The owner also has a 2010 GT3 RS.

The RS looked like a red headed step sister next to the R8.
