Stayed at the Meridien Stuttgart last month when I went. Not immediately nearby but it's across a nice park and within walking distance of the shopping district and restaurants. You can take a bus from there to Zuffenhausen.

I like the Strohgaeu in Korntal-Munchingen just a few minutes drive from Zuffenhausen.

I am going for a factory tour too 22/9. This is the hotel that Porsche Travel Club suggested.

I've used both and as stated are budget hotels. Clean and cheap within about 500 meters or so from the Museum. Easy drive or take the train from the Porsche Museum stop to get into town, town meaning the heart of Stuttgarts shopping/arts/food district, it's like 5 Euro roundtrip but that was about 2 years ago.

Seriously consider the Adler Asperg (in Asperg). They have a Ferry Porsche room. They are located at Stuttgarter Straße 2, 71679 Asperg. 07141-2660-0
They have a really nice indoor pool as well. I stayed there when I picked up my latest Porsche. 15 minutes from Zuffenhausen. (11.3 km)
