Default Decided to keep my 997.1 GT3

With the market not making much right now I have decided to pull some of my previous earnings out for a treat.

I was debating between trading in my car, 997.1 GT3 on a 997.2 GT3 (or RS). When I calculated the difference I can not seem to justify it.......and I am not crazy about centerlock wheels. The saved money can be spent on dirving instruction, wheels and brake pads. I know the 997.2 is an improvement.....with unlimited funds I would get one

Tomorrow I drop my car off to have a pre owned clubsport bar installed (thanks Leif997) and GT2 seats (from an RS owner who did not want them). C2 design in Tampa, FL wil lbe doing the work.

Can someone give me a place to get a bar mounted fire extimguisher and belts?

Thanks.....I will post pics when it is done

suncoast will have the factory belts, OGRacing or HMS will have the schroth 3" alternatives ... only difference is in the mounting h/w and perhaps the type of cam lock as I recall (perhaps wrongly)

dont know about a bar mount for the fire ext ... have you checked BK???

BTW you will probably need the Brey Krause sub belt bars for the sports buckets ... and they are a "bugger" to install with the seats in place, so you may want to get those 1st before you install the seats ... as well as the sub belts in particular.

unless it is your plan to drill the holes in the floor for the sub belts?

C2 design has a sub bar that they are going to use......they told me it is a factory porsche part???

I will find the part number out. C2 did the install on TrakCar's GT3 RS, he might know what it is

h'mmm I'm just an amateur, *but* I do not think the sports buckets have a factory/oem sub belt bar. I think if you ordered the (RoW) clubsport options you would have some threaded plates in the floor to attach the sub belts to.

I fear what these guys have is the 996 Recaro "cobrahead" sub belt bars which will not work (unless you drill/mess around)

you need these:

what I think they have is this:

Chris did the whole thing. I just got the invoice ;-)
Mine is still rattle free, I love all the work they did.

yeah, keep it. i recall your car was very low miler.
there are no FACTORY sub bar for GT2 seats (glad u found those seats), except the one's posted by larry cable. the old factory bar will work, need some modification, not heard. but the bar posted by larry is made for these seats.

Good decision Izzone. The probability of a 'double dip' scenario in the economy is greater now than before. Being prudent is the 'new normal'. Your GT3.1 is a great car. Enjoy it and max it out! :-)

I have had my car 9 months....have with 2500 miles now has 6500.....still don't drive it enough

I have searched high and low on sizing, i am 6'2", think the seats should be ok for me.

The only local car that has them is a boxter spider (no roof) so i could not judge height.

C2 said to get a thinner bottom cushion made if it is an issue

Make sure you spend some time with Andrew, this is what he did with mine to make me sink in and fit:

the 997.1 is a good platform and money saved on not buying .2 can be spent elsewhere on your .1.

sharkwerks make a great fire extinguisher brackets for the GT2 seats. (drivers side)

I honestly think you are making the right choice. There is not enough of a difference to pony up the additional cash. I would just keep learning the existing car.... its a great machine and nothing beats getting more intimate with it!!!
