Werd \werd\ interj (ca.1960)
{a slang term whose origin is based on the remembrance of WERD; the first black-owned radio station, based out of the Masonic building in Atlanta, Georgia, owned and operated between 1949-1968 by Jesse B. Blayton and a means of media exposure for Dr. Martin Luther King}
1: a statement within itself of agreement and power
"Remember this?" Jack said, pointing to a picture. Joe says, "werd." "That was a crazy time, huh? I'll bet we could do that again." Joe says, "werd."

Let me introduce you to the beauty of Urban Dictionary, since you seem to be a cunning linguist:

I will refrase - my point was not about the depreciation so much as about 'value', both tangible and intangible. Yes, everyone buying these cars realizes they are expenses. However, at 250k I am buying McLaren, Ferrari, pre-owned Pagani if I am in europe, not yet another 911 variant with a bigger turbo and a few carbon bits.
the whole point of all the variety in these types of cars is that if you have the money, you should never compromise. you should get EXACTLY what fits YOU and YOUR NEEDS. we sit around saying "oh this color" or "oh that option" but really if it's your car and you want sport chrono or even illuminated door sills, you make it happen.
best of luck to all of you in your future purchases, and I know I'll enjoy mine!

The proof will be in the pudding, I am betting these cars will be sitting on dealer lots 3 months after release.

I have absolutely nothing against the GT2 RS and would happily own one at the right price. It's just that IMO Porsche could easily have brought the car to market for well under $200k and still made tons of money.

Guys, in the exotic/sports car arena, once you factor in the different ages of the cars, you are no longer comparing "apples to apples". I've owned Porsches for over 40 years, from an IROC car, to a 1973 and 1974 factory RS's, to RSR's, to my current Porsche/Ruf cars, 2007 Gt3/RS, Ruf Ctr2 Sport, 1986 Ruf Btr, 1993 Ruf Btr, and a 1976 Porsche factory built 934 race car. I love everyone of them. I had the 934 and two Ruf cars at this past wekend's event in Cresson, Tx, sponsored by RAC Performance. Handling is different, speed is different, performance is different, but, you know what, I LOVE THEM ALL. ! You can't compare a Carrera GT to a, as yet not even released GT2/RS. Years apart. There always will be a technologically, more advanced car available on the market tomorrow. I always appreciated the cars for what they represented during their time . I find as much joy with my 934 as I do with my Gt3/RS, Go Figure.

P.S. CJ, I had the opportunity to chat with you at RAC on Fri. and briefly at the event on Sat. Love you attitude, buy what you love, love what you buy, and drive them. See you in NYC at the stadium

I said it a long time ago. Get whatever the **** YOU want and don't worry about what anyone else thinks.
You pull up in your Pink CGT...
The first dude rolls up to you and says, "Man I LOVE your car!"
You reply, "thanks...", in a very understated yet appreciative way...
He then says, "but I would've bought it in"
You immediately interrupt him by saying "go **** yourself!"
Point is, I buy whatever I want and don't give a **** what others think. IMO everyone should do the same.

Having previously owned a 996 GT3, CGT and various other models in Porsche's lineup, the car that I most enjoyed and yet felt least comfortable driving was the CGT. This is not from the standpoint of the mechanics of the car (clutch, zero ground clearance, etc.) but rather from the status of the car in and of itself.
Let me give some background: I am a physician, and a fair number of the physicians in my community (medium-sized city) drive MB, Porsche, etc. However, I am a specialist dependent upon the referrals from primary care physicians. The last thing that I really want is to drive around an over-the-top car that may antagonize my referring physicians, flaunting my wealth, if you will. I received quite a bit of grief about owning the CGT from both my patients and the physicians referring me patients.
The beauty of the GT2RS is that you get supreme performance at the level of supercars/hypercars while maintaining at least a semblance of "subtlety." Painted in suitably muted colors, the GT2RS does not look that different from a run-of-the-mill 911 to the casual uninformed observer. And a surgeon driving around a 911 is almost cliched in any city.
Suffice it to say that I have reserved my place with the local dealer should they be lucky enough to get an allocation. I'm still wrestling with color combinations, though!
