Default New GT3 (and greetings from Germany)

Finally picked up the car in Zuffenhausen on May 18. It has been a busy couple of days since. Put just under 500 miles on her in two days (mostly on the Autobahn). The car exceeds all my expectations - the look, the acceleration, the handling, and the engine note! I will not get into to much detail about all the car's attributes. I would only be parroting what has already been said here many times before. I will say the front end lift has already come in handy.

Tomorrow we are off to southern Germany for a night, then on to Austria for a few days. Looking forward to driving on the various mountain passes. We are in Europe for another month and plan to put a lot of miles behind us. The trip includes 2 days at the Porsche Driving School in Leipzig, and several track days - Spa and N-Ring. I will try to post some pictures along the way.

Cheers.

Your silver GT3 looks incredible! Can't think of a better way to break her in than to go hit Spa and then the 'Ring...

Nice ride. My...987S...was in that very same spot in May 2006 when I drove it out. A bit of maneuvering to get out the door or maybe i was just way too cautious.

Look forward to your road report/pics!!

I am renting a 911S for the PDS. Looking forward to the school and then some days on the track.

Did not get to visit with others. We were the first to take delivery, then we did the factory tour, lunch, and then finally the museum. It was a long day, and I was happy to get in my car and drive home. Tourist delivery is great experience, and Porsche does make it a special event.

Below are some more pictures of the last several days, including lunch at the Porsche factory, the museum, a drive to Schloss Bensberg outside Koln for lunch at Vendome, and finally Leermoos, Austria, in the shadow of the Zugspitze and Sonnespitze. Today we took a drive over the Hahtenjoch and Fernpass. A real popular destination for motorcyclist. Got to put the GT3 through the paces on a couple of nice mountain passes. Some stretches were conjested, as this is a holiday weekend, but there was quite a bit of open road and the car showed its real character. Have put about 800 miles on the car to date, and we still have another 3 weeks of traveling ahead of us.

72 Euros = $90 USD ... hmmm ... okay ... I've paid more ...
48 litres = 12.68 US gallons ... hmm ... not a full tank even ... that's not so good ...
so that's 90 bucks for 12 and bit gallons ...

$7/gallon. Ouch. That seems high. : |

Oil is about to drop and he expecting impact is pump prices in the US will drop to about $3.50/gallon.

Actually, the differential between gas prices in Europe and the US used to be larger. Gas prices have grown relatively in the US due to taxes, and more taxes are coming.

Hey Rocci you should head to the Ring right now. There are 3 other 997.2 GT3s there (white black and red). This way the Porsche siblings could all run and play together!

During my trip last year I paid about $3000 in gas alone. The price per liter was high, but what killed me last year was the exchange rate.
