Default Simple TraqMate Install for 2010 GT3

I thought I would share how I installed a TraqMate in my GT3.
I used the existing cup holder and velcro.
I wanted something permanent, yet when not in use, could not be seen.
First shows the cup holder with velcro on the right side. There is one on the left too. These do not impede the unit from folding into its home.
Second shows pre install. Note velcro on top back and bottom of the DU.
Third and fourth photos are the DU installed.

The fifth shows a back view and utilization of the cup holders bottom. Velcro loops to add stability.
Sixth photo is a bit tricky. Notice the ridges in the silver control box. I laid velcro in between each. The TraqMate unit has the mating velcro. It is very secure with no movement. It does not interfere with my sub-mounts.
The other photos show cable routing. When not installed, all you see is the small velcro patch on the console.

Last is where I mount the antenna when not in use. It sticks to my DAS roll bar. I route it up and stick it on top of the roof, leaving my window cracked to not crimp the cable. Cable is secured with Gaffers tape.

The unit is solid on track days and out of sight when going for coffee.

Fantastic idea Tommy!

I been looking for ways to mount the traqmate short of suction cup it on the Navigation screen (I try that too lol). Now I have it suction cup on the windshield as shown on the video below. I will try your method in couple weeks to see how it works out

Thanks for posting. I've been looking for a place to put my Starlane display. Maybe making a bracket to mount above the left AC vent between the steering wheel and pillar then hardwiring it. Need to keep it in view of the sky because the antenna is built in to the display. Never thought of the cupholders. Be nice if it would fold away with the cupholder when you're not using it...

Here's my Velcro Solution. Very easy and quick, removes in 2 minutes without a trace. Been using this for 3+ years without a problem.

Ron, I saw that and really liked the glove box solution. How is the velcro attached inside the glove box?

It's not attached anywhere, just a big loop that goes around the whole glovebox assembly and secures to itself (about 2" overlap). Same with where the telemetry unit is secured.

You guys are a hell of a lot handier then me.
I had it re-installed by my dealer, the glove box opens.
It is all easily removable, but I never do, I leave it all in always.

So what did you think of this dealer? Is it worth the drive?

I think so, if David had not become a Traqmate dealer I would have e-bay'ed the whole deal and given up. He's been great.

Check out proclipusa.com. They make a simple clip that clamps to your existing central air vent. The bolt hole pattern is standard and fits the Traqmate mounting quick-release perfectly. I've been using this for my last several track events and it is very secure, accessible and clean.

I have no affiliation with the co. above, I just grew tired of the huge suction cup and needed another solution.

Steve: Thanks for the tip. I'll take a look.

TrakCar: Is that equipment technically under your seat? Just the seat is slid forward?

Do any of you actually wire into the brake light?
