after paying for the full leather and lift options the buyer ran out of money for the bi-xenon lights..... has to settle for lightweights instead

Default My favorite added-weight option ....

While I certainly can see the advantage of shedding weight from my gt3, my favorite option adds about 160 lbs -- my ***. The car still feels fast to me. I agree with those above that say the purpose of the car--any car---is to enjoy it. That is something different for every person. I used to berate motorcyclists who ride 1K per year just because I rode 15-20k per year. I was young. There are different kinds of motorcyclists--doesn't mean one is more correct than the other. Same with a car. It's all good.

As a 'purist', you should know that light-weight headlights can not be ordered with front axle lift.

This thread is LOL

As far as I am concern, the purist car is the one shown below ... 40 lbs with jet propulsion. Yes, the driver had one too many dim sum but heck, he can gain all the weight he want since he has headlight delete

Yes, there are other benefit of purchasing a Sports Car and NOT take it to the track.

The Benefit is Happiness.
If the person who buy GT3 RS decide NOT to take it to the track,
and only keep it inside his garage,
and only look at it, and already happy,
that is already benefit for him.

To be HAPPY in your Life is already a BENEFIT.

so, if taking your Porsche to the track will make you Happy,
good for you.
but not everybody is like you.

I myself will want to take my car to the track to enjoy it and be Happy,
but not everybody like me,
and it is ok.

What is not ok is if someone start a thread to criticize other people, just to make them feel happy
because they are able to criticize other people habit.

you work hard to buy your Sports Car,
it is up to you to enjoy it.

so, please Don't Worry (about other, as long as they don't bother you),
and Be Happy

As he looks at it in his garage .....he can clean up the oil leak from a RMS.

These cars need to be driven.

need to be driven? you might feel the need to driven it, but not everybody fell that way...

again, as long as he/she is happy, why not ?
It is his/her car, and it will be him/her who had to clean up the oil leak from his/her Car RMS,
or perhaps he/she have someone to do it for him/her ?
or perhaps his/her car do not have RMS problem like yours ?

any scenario can happened...
but as long as he/she is happy, and that is the way he/she want with his car to be,
that he/she bought with his/her own money,
good for him/her...

like it is good for you that you enjoy your car a lot by driven your car to it's full potential.
Good for you.

You will not be able to understand or like on what other people preference/life style and vice versa,
all you need to understand is yours, and how you can make yourself feel happy.

What the Thread starter basically want everybody to do is to customize all their GT3 RS the exact same way that he would customize his own car. that is to make the GT3 RS as light as possible.
Don't you think the world will be boring, if that happened ?
Don't you think it sound like he is a dictator, try to dictate other's people freedom of choice ?

let me ask you a simple question.
do you think you will buy the exact same car with the same exact options (as light as possible),
with the guy who start this thread from now on ?
of course not.
Every body have freedom of choice.

I also drive my RS in the rain, and only primarily use it for the track as I feel that a GT3 that is used on the street is very under utilised, but there are others that will buy a GT3, polish it and keep it nicely garaged in wet weather and never take it to the track. But they appreciate the car for a different reason.... would I do that... no way! But I sure aint going to call there attitude towards their car a joke.... and I have been through a fair few Porsche's and consider myself a hardcore Porsche nut but still appreciate there are those that want a tiptronic. Knowing the history of the RS... well the new RS sure aint anything like the original with all the driver aids and extra weight already in the car, so if someone wants to stuff leather in theirs, power to them. As long as they enjoy it.
Well said. In fact thats really the essence of Porsche. People bitch about having to pay for GPS in a $100K car. Others wouldnt want it for free. I personally couldnt care less about leather - others wouldnt buy without full leather. I like seat warmers etc.

Buy what makes YOU happy and stop worrying about their lack of knowledge of histrory and what they are doing.

I get what I want (which in my case is a car who's only weight adding option is A/C; South Florida Heat) with my money. I try and lighten my car up as much as possible, mainly 'cause it's fun and I do enjoy the difference.

If you don't like it, that's your ******* problem, get your own money and do whatever the **** you want with it.

Who the hell am I to tell others what to do with their money when purchasing a toy. Otherwise, I do tell people what to do with their money, I'm a Financial Adviser.

BTW if you want Sat/Nav, upgraded stereo, sunroof, heated seats, Espresso machine, cigar humidor, etc..., in your RS, go right ahead. More power to you for being able to afford the ridiculous prices Porsche will charge you for them. So as long as I also have the right to order mine the way I want it.
