While I certainly can see the advantage of shedding weight from my gt3, my favorite option adds about 160 lbs -- my ***. The car still feels fast to me. I agree with those above that say the purpose of the car--any car---is to enjoy it. That is something different for every person. I used to berate motorcyclists who ride 1K per year just because I rode 15-20k per year. I was young. There are different kinds of motorcyclists--doesn't mean one is more correct than the other. Same with a car. It's all good.

Can someone elaborate the benefits of purchasing a sportscar and not taking it to the track and drive the **** out of it? I just don't get it. Is it for resale value or u like gawkers? Mike

As a 'purist', you should know that light-weight headlights can not be ordered with front axle lift.

As far as I am concern, the purist car is the one shown below ... 40 lbs with jet propulsion. Yes, the driver had one too many dim sum but heck, he can gain all the weight he want since he has headlight delete

Yes, there are other benefit of purchasing a Sports Car and NOT take it to the track.

The Benefit is Happiness.
If the person who buy GT3 RS decide NOT to take it to the track,
and only keep it inside his garage,
and only look at it, and already happy,
that is already benefit for him.

To be HAPPY in your Life is already a BENEFIT.

so, if taking your Porsche to the track will make you Happy,
good for you.
but not everybody is like you.

I myself will want to take my car to the track to enjoy it and be Happy,
but not everybody like me,
and it is ok.

What is not ok is if someone start a thread to criticize other people, just to make them feel happy
because they are able to criticize other people habit.

you work hard to buy your Sports Car,
it is up to you to enjoy it.

so, please Don't Worry (about other, as long as they don't bother you),
and Be Happy

What the Thread starter basically want everybody to do is to customize all their GT3 RS the exact same way that he would customize his own car. that is to make the GT3 RS as light as possible.

Well said. In fact thats really the essence of Porsche. People bitch about having to pay for GPS in a $100K car. Others wouldnt want it for free. I personally couldnt care less about leather - others wouldnt buy without full leather. I like seat warmers etc.

Buy what makes YOU happy and stop worrying about their lack of knowledge of histrory and what they are doing.

I get what I want (which in my case is a car who's only weight adding option is A/C; South Florida Heat) with my money. I try and lighten my car up as much as possible, mainly 'cause it's fun and I do enjoy the difference.

If you don't like it, that's your ******* problem, get your own money and do whatever the **** you want with it.

Who the hell am I to tell others what to do with their money when purchasing a toy. Otherwise, I do tell people what to do with their money, I'm a Financial Adviser.

BTW if you want Sat/Nav, upgraded stereo, sunroof, heated seats, Espresso machine, cigar humidor, etc..., in your RS, go right ahead. More power to you for being able to afford the ridiculous prices Porsche will charge you for them. So as long as I also have the right to order mine the way I want it.
