2011 gt3/rs
Can anyone confirm or deny 2011 gt3/rs production? If yes, what production numbers are expected? My local dealership has not heard any word.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I used to hear that the new 991 would be debuting summer of 2011, but I saw a more recent report saying summer of 2012. Either way, the new chassis is not that far away.

So maybe a small run again for 2011?
Like they did with the 50 or so '08 RS-es that came to the states?
Strange that the 2010 regular GT3 is "sold out" with the 2007 they kept building them right into 2008. So maybe they will do another run with the 2011 regular GT3?
Just guessing here....

My understanding from the dealer I ordered my RS from, is that somewhere between 200 to 250 RSs would be built and that was the end. It really hurts their value when they flood the market.

Does anyone know how many 2010 GT3s were allocated to the US market? It is my understanding that the production cycle for the 2010 is between June 2009 to March 2010. I am pretty sure there will be no additional GT3s made between March and Sept. 2010. Then Porsche may start making the 2011 model.

Porsche's allocation period ran from June through the mid-end of Jan.

Now on the other foot who really cares about value here? Maybe a car collector. And the typical car collector won't be putting too many miles on their car let alone track days! Unless of course you have the complete opposite where you have an individual who only does track events; and that's the only place the car gets it's miles. Even to the point where it is trailored in.
Now most folks would agree that all these cars were meant to be driven. And it sure is a sad thing seeing an awesome Porsche just sitting in a garage somewhere just collecting dust.
In November only one GT3 was sold in north America. ONE!!! Does anyone know why that is? Because everyone was running around looking for an RS! GT3 sales are picking back up again because those who can't or don't want to pay the rediculous fees over MSRP are finally pulling the trigger. Just about anyone who is going to get or want a GT3 / RS will research the hell out of it! There is no other car community that is as well researched and educated about their cars than the Porsche Republic!
Now here is how the issue gets resolved. To hell with the collectors and those who want to be in an exclusive club. That's right I said it. Make the RS GT3 an option that you can check when ordering the car. Only makes sense and you won't have a bunch of unhappy folks running around trying to avoid getting reemed for trying to buy an exclusive car. There is no reason why Porsche cannot do this.
If this could happen I know a majority of the Threes coming to our shores would be RSes.
Me I'm still waiting on getting a new turbo and getting a 6GT3 and taking it to Dan and Alex at Sharkwerks for the 3.9 treatment. Then again waiting on the new 928 based on the Panomera. Talking about performance that will rival the 911!

Hurts their value? Well of course when demand outstrips supply that's macro-economics 101!

Great idea to make the RS an option which the customer can check. Too bad it won't happen.
