I have heard the 2011 RS may have PDK...the source was a good friend who used to race for Porsche.

It could be that the 2011RS is something like the GT2RS.

The GT2 already has the PDK with the Turbo motor, so if they hardcore it a bit further, why not call it GT2RS?

It would make sense; the GT2 is less about "feel" and more about all out fastest laptime and the PDK would help with that no doubt.

Trakcar, I don't see the GT2 with PDK. Only the Carrera, Boxster, Cayman and Turbo come with PDK

A GT3 and GT3RS with PDK would be the ultimate!

Agreed, but let's hope it will be an option. Some poeple like flappy padels and they are undeniably faster.

Sorry; I do not agree.

PDK and Turbo is faster, sure, but on my track car less = more.
PDK belongs much more on a GT2 than it does on a GT3 IMHO.

My other car has 734lbs of Torque, so I know how adictive torque is. I am sure the turbo lag is way worse in the CL (HUUUUGE!) that motor would be undrivable for me on the track. Surely a 997 TT or GT2 have much different power delivery, but I would hate the "elastic" power delivery and turbo lag, as small as it might be.

To me the Turbo and PDK is a great combo, especially for street driving, or even ultimate laptimes.

Your idea of an RS model based on the GT2 is a pretty good guess, but don't expect another run of the GT3RS. Who knows what will happen now that the VW guys are calling the shots.

I have asked the dealer about this... they said that its too early to tell....
they also believe that its probably not going to happen.. however.. they told me that whats more likely to happen is the birth of the GT2 RS!

Stop fighting it because eventually all cars will have the pdk including all future gt3.Its only a matter of time and everyone will be praising how wonderful it is on the track.

Read in German Car Magazine (Sport Auto) that Porsche will bring a Turbo S in 2011 - makes sense to me as we have had Turbo S's in the past..... would not be surprised if it had some performance goodies and include PDK also but doubt that it would drop 4 wheel drive... let's see later in 2010.

Would dropping the 3 and only making the 3RS be a solution? Or would that mess up the racing efforts based on the narrow body cars?

Why would PDK be the ruination of a GT3? The GT3 and GT3RS are actually intended to be used part of the time on the track. The faster car will have PDK. If you want the fastest car - you will need to get PDK. If you want to row yourself - get a 6 speed. Nothing wrong with either.

Ferrari will not even offer a 458 with 6 speed. The scud does not have a 6 speed. Porsche offers both options for now - best of both worlds if you can pick. LT - 6 speed may be going away.

1. The regular GT3 is out of production, hence why there are no more allocations. Production was cut way back this go around, < 500 cars.
2. The factory is switching over to produce the GT3 RS starting this month. RS production is expected to also be < 500.
3. The RS is supposed to complete production in May to June.
4. No 11' GT3 or GT3 RS has been annouced.
5. There will not be a PDK version on a GT1 based engine. Porsche does not have a version of the consumer PDK that will bolt up to the GT1 block. Don't expect PDK unless it is going to use a 9A1 series engine (997.2 Carrera/Carrera S based). Hence, the Turbo did not get PDK until the 10' model switched to the 9A1 engine.
6. The rumor I got from my dealer is the next specialty car will be a 11' GT2 RS based on the new Turbo with the 9A1 engine. Word is it will have PDK and the sport/paddle shift wheel from the new turbo. Given the parts now available, this could be very viable with dynamic engine mounts from the Turbo, center lock wheels from the RS (for the wide body).

Seems very logical and likely to me.

Turbo S's are all that is left for turbo allocations at this point. My dealer has already been offered one. They will be here in Apr/May. Rumored @ 539 hp, only PDK, PCCBs standard.
