Default New 2010 GT3 or 07 RS?

Guys, I'd like some opinions.

I'm looking @ either an 07 997GT3RS or a brand new 2010 self spec GT3 with 35% premium in price over the old RS. It won't be my daily but definitely few times a week.

Now, it'll be 80% street (city+unlimited speed freeways/mountain rds) & 20% track with the latter probably just quarterly as I'm not into tracking these days (but u never know!)

I like it more for the drive & handling. I've never bought a new sports car before & I know I'll be looking @ huge loss for the 1st 2 yrs easily for a new car. The new headlamps+LEDs front & rears are really nice not to mention the 3.8, lifter & a better tuned chassis than the mk1. The new model comes with 5yrs full warranty over here which includes servicing & most parts. For once, I can spec my own car

The RS is a cult bugger & I'm getting a used. Only 8 in Singapore with 1 more year of warranty. The Mk1 GT3 sold very well with over 20 cars here!

What's your say? For the 35% diff, is it worth the difference & will the Mk1 RS be a nice long term keeper? The new RS seems to have a 45% premium over the Mk1 over here!

Geesh thats a toughy. I think I would go with a new GT3 spec'ed like you want. I think the new GT3 has most of the RSs upgrades and really the RS was in the US anyway more of a comsetic upgrade over the Standard GT3.

Get the RS.

prices are attractively low (in north america anyhow)

why take the depreciation hit on a new 997.2 GT3, when you can drive a 997 RS for alot less?

sooner or later, you will be in a RS..... might as well be now!

Hahaha! I like this statement

I've always dreamed of building a 3.0RSR replica which will cost at least half an 07 RS!

But the new GT3 is so attractive! Arrrgh

Definitely the new GT3 - warranty, more power, better suspension, better aero. And if you get full leather, the new interior with more alcantara is sweet.

997.2 is a more suitable daily if you option it up, but if you're inclined to get a spartan car then the 997.1 RS pricing can't really be beat. I faced the same decision and I went with the '07 RS. I didn't want to be shopping for centerlock track wheels and I'm happy letting someone else eat the first few years of depreciation.

With me behind the wheel the driver is definitely the weak link in either car, so wringing my hands over the minor suspension and power benefits of a 997.2 GT3 is wasted energy. Plus I like the rarity and heritage from driving an "RS." I've been dreaming about these cars since '73 (figuratively speaking) and now I own one.

This is a valid topic of discussion for those in the market for a 7GT3. Coming from a mildly set up 6GT3, went with an "07 RS. I am happy with my decision.

The issue is not about the actual driving experience, you will be happy with both. What you need to ask is whether you wish for the creature comforts and speccing them to your heart's content, or not. The cost is the difference between the 2 cars, including depreciation.

Sounds like you should buy the new 3 the way you want it.
Why not? If you can you should, and with open freeways & mountain passes go for it!
Either will be just what you expect them to be.
I never buy brand new cars any more because the first hit hurts soooo bad.......
My 07 gt3 had 837 miles on it and I saved 10k.

Guys. The problem is cars are heavily taxed in my part of the world.

The new GT3 will cost me US$405K while the 07 RS is still worth US$316K. Depreciation is about US$70K for the 1st year easily on either car so I have to make the decision wisely.

Anyway, I'm trading in my 05 manual Murcielago in for it for slightly lesser than the new GT3 & I paid US$600K for it as a used car 2.5yrs ago!

They eventually even out by 10yrs to equalize with the rest of the world.

For those who has tried both Mk1 & 2 GT3s. How much diff are there & is it worth the experience? Thanks.

All of a sudden I feel a lot better about what I spent on my GT3! Sorry

It's a tough call - I chose '10 GT3 for my own reasons. Judging from your first post, I'd recommend the new GT3 over the RS for your usage but they are both phenomenal cars.
