Anyway, I'm trading in my 05 manual Murcielago in for it for slightly lesser than the new GT3 & I paid US$600K for it as a used car 2.5yrs ago!

They eventually even out by 10yrs to equalize with the rest of the world.

For those who has tried both Mk1 & 2 GT3s. How much diff are there & is it worth the experience? Thanks.
LOL, if you drive a murci, gt3 or RS in kuala lumpur or bankok, you dont really care about tax ;-) i am from that part of the world, more or less....

if you want to put a lot of mileage on the car, get new GT3, if you want the name get RS. i have had two RS and driven the new GT3 quite a bit. in asia, short of on track, you will not be able to feel any difference.

First off, that's a great set of choices to be making and find that you cannot go wrong with either .

Different strokes for different folks. I personally had the same choice not too long ago and went with the Mk1 RS. Price point for the car, exlcusivity, etc... However, for us in NA/USA, it may be different as supply for Mk1 RS coming into the open market is a bit different then a population set of 20 cars in your region... Assumming that you will not be importing one on your own. I could see why you would want a new spec one for yourself. I have not driven the new, but IMO, there is much more appeal in an RS over the GT3 new once the dust settles with the new-ness of the car. RSMk1 vs. RS Mk2 howver is a diff strory as far as performance. I also had the opportunity to spec a new RS out but opted for the Mk2. The graphics and uprights on the rear wing did not do it for me...

Bottom line...

Mk1 RS vs GT3 === Mk1 RS all day long (performance, exclusivity, price point at purchase, future value -- but if a daily driver GT3)
Mk1 RS vs Mk2 RS -- A coin toss ( but for aesthetics and such, my money is on Mk1)

This probably confused you even more... but GL with your purchase.

I would beg to differ.

997.1 RS vs 997.2 GT3 - 997.2 GT3 all day long; it is simply a better car in all performance aspects.

997.1 RS vs 997.2 RS - A coin toss? Don't look now, but your bias is showing.

You are right on the MONEY part.

If one doesn't want to spend too much, yes, 1RS is an excellent deal, and a lot of car for anyone that enjoys driving.

If money is not the issue, I don't see why one will buy a 1RS and said it is a better car than the 2RS. I can appreciate that both are excellent and more than enough cars for anyone, but no way that the 1 is better than 2 in any way.

Beware that my opinion is very biased...

Original poster asked for our opinions, I gave mine . I guess I am biased and it showed, eh?

Nontheless, any Porsche with a GT is sure great to have in my book. Again, I had an allocation for a 997 MkII RS but opted to buy a J5 Green MY07 Mk1 RS instead. Money was not the issue. For more reasons than one, I just liked this one more. Who knows I may regret it. But man, everytime I walk in the garage and see this... it sure is hard to say I went wrong.

Alan Smithee, Targa Tim -- Looking forward to hearing and seeing pics of your 997.2 RSs.

Best,
RP

^Richard,

You got an amazing collections. You should park the yellow car in the middle to make a traffic light arrangement.

NineEleven: Curious about driving environment for these cars in Sing. Can you provide more details? Are speeds unregulated on highways?
