Default Center Lock Wheel wrench

We asked the dealer about the wrench for taking the wheels off of the 2010 GT3. It is listed as Part number 997.450.323.90. But the part is not availible. When I go to my dealer the part is not availible and they told me to call porsche motorsport. When I called motorsport they said they do not have the part number in their system and do not sell anything for "road cars." They told me to contact my dealer.

Apparently there is some kind of confusion going on internally at porsche.

Anyone have any idea on what is going on with this tool?

Thanks.

Thank you for the advise. Its amazing that Porsche does not know that the part number in the manual is wrong. I will look into getting the alternitive wrench.

So the dealership service department does not have the correct tools to torque the wheels?

I think I overheard this conversation at my dealer this morning. That must have been you.

Lol. I think you may be correct. If you were you at Paul Miller this morning, yes it was me.

Also my dad and I were Looking at your GT3 mark 1 there. It looks very nice. I am curious though is that a factory exaust on it...it looked a little bit different? If so who did the exaust work and what do you think of it?

I have the precision instrument torque wrench and it works great on my new 2010 GT3, needing a big breaker bar to get the wheels off, i have a 40" 3/4 drive coming.

Does it matter if the torque mulitplier/wrench is not from Porsche as long as the socket and/or any locking devices fit the wheels?

Sunset porsche told me that Porsche won't be supplying the long wrench as any other vendor's will work.

Just set your wrench to 600 ft/lbs, and go counter-clockwise. That's your breaking bar.

The exhaust is a GMG center exhaust bypass. I love it. Gets nice compliments from people who hear it.

Mistakes happen, even at Porsche at very unexpected places. For example, the new book for the MkII GT3/RS has misplaced titles for photos of the front and rear axles. Of course it´s a totally small mistake, hardly worth mentioning beyond this topic, but you would imagine that they made these books for the whole world and must have gone through them a few times to check everything is correct before having them printed, and still there is this mix-up.

Is that likely to have any lasting effects on the torque wrench? The idea had crossed my mind also as I have already bought the torque wrench in readiness but I was planning to buy an extra long breaker bar as I wasn't sure.

every torque wrench is different. some cannot be stored with a torque set to them and must be stored set at 0 while others have no problem. i am sure that just the same some can be used for loosening a fastener while others should not be used in such a manner. i would consult the mfr'r of the wrench for an answer to your question.
