Thumbs up 2010 Porsche 997 GT3 RS: Decals and Paint Options...

2010 Porsche 997 GT3 RS: Decals and Paint Options...

It has now been confirmed from a highly respected source at Porsche that with regard to the decals and paint options for the new GT3 RS:

1) The "GT3 RS" logos on the new car are all DECALS and can be easily removed...

2) The new GT3 RS can be ordered to be delivered WITHOUT the DECALS fitted...

3) The new GT3 RS may be ordered in ADDITIONAL COLOURS -- other than the three standard colours (Grey Black, Carrara White, Aqua Blue Metallic) -- AFTER the initial THREE MONTH production run...

(e.g. Basalt Black should be fine, but Riviera Blue would still be Paint-To-Sample...)

4) Finally, if you prefer the previous "GT3 RS" decals from the original 997 GT3 RS Gen1, they could even be fitted to the 2010 Porsche 997 GT3 RS...

Yes, apparently there will be scope for "other colours" after the initial three month production run - although PTS would clearly take longer to deliver...

point #4: Will they install the MKI graphics on the car at the factory?
Did the guy in charge of the colors and graphics get fired yet?

Sounds good. Pick color, get the decals in a storage tube, put film on the contrast mirrors and wing tips and the pig lips if you're "modest."

Now, about PDK ...

Anyone who wants the original graphics, PM me. I can make them in any color vinyl, and any brand of vinyl that you desire (3M, Avery, Oracal, etc...). Find a color chart and let me know the brand and color number and I can order the color, cut and ship them to you. I can do "GT3 RS", "GT3", "Carrera", and others.

Forget PDK I want mine in riviera blue with black wheels, cup mirrors, black spoiler uprights and endplates.

Thumbs down

that's mean a lot of additional charge $$$$$$

maybe that's the reason for those nasty color/decals from the beginning

OK, so the fender graphics are decals...but I wonder if the nasty checkered flags on the sides are also decals - hope so!

I sometimes think that there are different standards for ROW and PCNA.
Interesting info but the UK is not the US

When the 2007 RSs got delivered, rumor was the decals were installed after the fact as part of the pre-delivery inspection (PDI) process at the port (e.g., by Pasha Automotive Services, for cars delivered in San Diego, CA). I have seen pics of RSs running down the production line, and those pics support this rumor/theory (i.e., no decals installed at the factory). Guessing it will be the same for Gen II.

Gen I RS decals can be ordered from your dealer (997-559-331-90-041, 997-559-332-90-041, 997-559-333-90-041, 997-559-334-90-041, 997-559-335-90-041 and 997-559-336-90-041) and there is Technical Service Bulletin (6646) that provides directions on how to install.

MJones is right... Many things you can do ROW but PCNA has their "own" stupid restrictions. Speaking from experience here!
