Default Rohrl GT3 Mk II Nurburgring video

Walter Rohrl in new GT3 Mk II. Not the best camera placement. Apologies if it's a repost.

Yes Rohl is the man! Is Walter really the fastest in a 911 around the Ring? I'm surprised Porsche has not used its younger factory drivers to set Ring times. Are they not as quick? I know the Ring is a track where you really need to know every inch of the track to be at the limit, maybe that's why Rohl is the man.

Noticed the cornering loads - Aremberg 1.4G, Ex-Muhle 1.4G, Bergwerk 1.4G, and Schwalbenschwanz 1.5G? Wow!

And he blasted past a mid-engined Ferrari 430. (scud?)

and he is a smooth as can be very quiet hands zero waisted movement. Almost looks slow. I was told that it takes about 100 laps before one really knows the track.

He is amazingly economic in his movements even though you can see and hear the car moving around. You don't need 100 laps to learn it but it does take time.

That's what I love about the 'Ring: smooth driving is the key for a fast lap, not the "digital" driving style (either flat out or full brake) which can be watched on so many modern GP circuits.

Of course W.R. + GT3 + Nordschleife = perfection

"economic in his movements" reminds me of one of his answers in an interview.
Q: what's the secret of fast driving ?
A: the fewer steering the better :--)

Now compare W.R.'s line and driving style with Mr. von Saurma's lap (Sportauto Supertest):

I watched that video before and didn't think that much of it to be honest, is he the chap who sets their 'ring times?

Yes, it's him (always the same driver to make the laptimes "comparable")
