my 2008 green RS is for sale again. Buyer after begging me to hold it for him for several weeks cant seem to come up with the cash. Car has a 155k msrp has ceramics, green stitching, chrono, full leather, carbon trim, clear bra. Car is perfect. I could be off slightly on the miles either high or low as the car is in storage and I have not taken a look in a while and my memory is not that good but it should be very close to 350 or 400. In a few months, there will be many GT3 RS's with a few hundred miles.....only difference is they will be 2010 models with 3.8 (or larger) engines, Ti exhaust, widened front fenders, RS America style doors....might as well get realistic on your price and move it now

You might be right, but if the new RS is pushed up market, closer to Ferrari, then the current RS will look like a relative bargain.

The people who know the answer to this aren't talking yet, are they?

The new RS is certain to widen the gap between it and the 997.2 GT3, much more so than the current RS is over the 997.1 GT3. The question remains how much more than the prior $17K premium will Porsche charge for it.

i am not so sure.
many RS owners (i am NOT one of them) are not that sensitive to the current economy. i know of several ppl in which the RS is the cheapest car in their garage by FAR. plus, porsche isn't banking on RS, they got other money makers. i sure hope RS wont be in the ferrari territory.. or else i be kicking myself for not picking up a new cup car when i had the chance.

I dont see it going up market either. For what? More luxury? The Ti exhaust? The MkII GT3 is not a hunk of change over the MkI. So why would the Mk II RS being gobs and gobs more than the MkII GT3? THe new GT3 has 435 HP, a very incremental change over the MkI. I would expect the MkII RS to be a very incremental change over the MkI. What would they do (in this economy)? Make it 535 hp? There aint a whole lot of room for the MkII to move in $ and technical improvement before you start getting into
GT2 area, or messing in the TT market.
It seems to me that if Porsche does TOO much with the MkII RS they could lose the whole sense of the home run they hit with the MkI RS.

I expect the next RS to be the real home run! The elimination of the sunroof in the new GT3 is one of my hints to something special in the pipeline! If there is not a big difference, I will wait for the next generation

Now, you could be right regarding the economy, in that there is no guarantee that the new RS will ever come to the US (hence no sunroof in the GT3). There have been RS cars before that never made it to the US.

Like I said, those that know aren't saying, are they? But, I wouldn't panic at the moment and dump an RS because I thought its value was likely to fall like a rock.

There are many ways to speculate on this, but I have sold a lot of Porsches, that with hindsight, I wish I had kept!

Seems like prices on current RS are artificially based on the "rarity" factor. That would disappear when more RSs show up. There really isn't a reason why you can get a used GT3 for 90k, but still have to pay 125-150 for an RS.

an USED RS is about 115-120.
an essentially zero mile garage queen RS is for different type of buyer. for example, a relative of mine paid $80k USD for a 400 mile 89 speedster.

used GT3 is really 85 or less.

It does make sense somewhat when you look at the difference 1-2 years ago.....gt3s were going for $110-120k and RSs for $40k more.....they both have depreciated at about the same clip - a nice gt3 is now $85-95k and a nice RS is $120-130k
