Congratulations and thanks for the write up. I have been there many times and enjoy the beer drinking worker stories everytime!

Porsche AG continues to strive to cut costs, often claiming that they are being more environmentally friendly. The cold engine tests are another example along with the inside the factory 'road test'. I think the actual road test was worth a lot, even though there were many uncontrollable variables outdoors. Heck, they should do both. At least as you stated all the GT3 engines still get the dynomometer run, hot test.

Wow Michael - you are living every Porsche enthusiasts wet dream - awesome!

I grew up in Germany and things haven't changed that much - Germans drink beer like Americans drink water. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, and yes, certainly while at work. I love it!

Hey great stuff! And congrats on the new machine! As many have said, you are experiencing a Porsche Enthusiast's dream.

One question: What "tools" come with the new GT3 for the CL wheels?

Keep us updated, have fun, and be careful at the "Ring"!

Cheers!
Doug N.

PS. Mine is on the boat!

WOW - seriously nice mate! 100% congrats Im well jealous.

If I had any doubts that white was THE colour for the car they have just faded away - your car is seriously nice. I will be getting carrera white also for sure now.

Even though I live in the UK (so relatively close to factory collection), I had not previously not considered it ever an option. After reading your post and looking at your pics, even though my car will be winter (Dec 09) I am now very very tempted to go with a factory collection.

Regards and best wishes
Adam

Not quite sure when I will get it back home. I am going to expect it by mid Sept and then be happy if it gets back sooner. I think my delivery guy at the factory told me the next vessel is slated to leave the end of July.

You get the CL adapter that MJones posted earlier. I will take complete pics early next week, I promise! It is pretty cool how they made a special compartment for the adapter to hide away in the front compartment! And congrats on yours on the boat already. I think there are a bunch over the Atlantic right now.

Beautiful car and just the way I would have optioned it. I love the lightweight headlights without the ugly pimples.

That does look nicer. Also, for anyone so inclined one could add an aftermarket HID conversion kit for about $100 and weighing well under 1 pound. This would give great visibility and keep weight low (the real weight penalty comes from the self-leveling, washer mechanisms, and cornering functions - the igniter/ballasts for the Xenons are very light - about the footprint of a credit card for each side).

The lightweight headlights look to retain projector lenses which work very well with Xenons - visibilty may even be better than standard Xenons as they probably have a wider illumination pattern (without much scatter). The Xenon projectors need to have a sharp cut-off for the benefit of oncoming drivers. I know that the HID converted lights in my 993 offered better visibility than the stock Bi-Xenons in my 996 - just have to aim them carefully in respect for oncoming cars.

Great writeup and congratulations. By the sounds of it you may be one of very few to do this with the 2010 GT3. If I were a jealous man..............

You are the MAN!!!

Great color (still my favorite for the GT3) and PERFECT options!!! Good for you on deleting the bi-xenons. I have always hated them because Porsche makes you get those stupid washer jets - they looked like crap on the 996 lights and worse on the 997; stupid little warts. And I always new the base lights were lighter, and now we now exactly how much on the configurator (13.2 lbs I believe). I was pissed when I heard they were standard on all MK2 997's, but luckily the GT3 has the delete option.

Oh, and you got the much superior and lighter track seats; bravo again!

And yeah on the sunroof, I finally have confirmation!!! They finally did it right again!

You just inspired me to go for a drive in my non-sunroof 997 MKI GT3!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
