Default GT3 sounds

Anyone have any info you can share on upgrading the sound system in a GT3? at speed and the hifi is useless and can not overcome the road and exhaust noise so i'd like to improve it somehow. The only person I mentioned this too who is in the business started talking about a custom bass box to go on the rear shelf behind the cage which is a massive no no!

I see the GT2 comes with a Bose set up but i dont want to be adding weight to the car if indeed that does, a little is fine but not amps etc.

Default Install rear speakers

Do you have rear speakers in your car? When I got my car, it had only the speakers up front and I did not like the sound at all. Then I installed the stock rear speakers (they weigh about 8 ounces each) and the sound improved 4 fold, it fills the cabin much better and even with my Akrapovic race exhaust, the music is still acceptable. Highly recommend this inexpensive upgrade!

The rear speakers are plug-and-play? I was under the impression that there was no power to the rear speaker wires. If I'm wrong, I'll put those in posthaste.

Hmmm - I might need to look into this too. Let us know if you need to run wires.

(I can afford 2 x 8oz. I've been running alot recently.)

Unfortunately there were no connectors present on the wiring harness but as it turned out the custom installation shop was able to quickly run cables from the rear speaker location to the radio and connect them with not much time spent. They did not have to remove much at all to get the job done. The shop which did the installation is first class hence it worked out that well!

Bought the speakers from Suncoast for about $65, talk to Ric. You will be blown away how much better the sound is!

I had Focal 2 ways installed and they aer audiophile speakers. You need a smaill amp b/c the stock stereo doesn't have the power to run them. I have one (I forget the name) thats 2 lbs!

im wondering where they connected the aftermarket speakerwire to the factory system?

i would love to see a scrapped 997 to see where the factory wired the rears...

They connected the cables at the regular Right and left rear inputs of the radio, fade front to rear works as it is designed to do. It's all stock except the custom cables.
I think the RS uses a different wire harness than the regular 997, that's why they could not find connectors at the rear speaker location.

You may ask Suncoast about getting a set of plugs to connect the harness to the radio.
I believe my shop soldered the harness to the speakers.
Or get in touch with Benchmark Motors in Bellevue WA they did the job:
Hugo Bobadilla 425-691-3901 direct
He can most likely help you out

thanks again for the info. i figure the best place for me to try first would be L.A porsche dismantlers for some factory speakers and factory connectors that i could attach to aftermarket speaker wire for this mod.
