Similar experience. Hated my auto 550i and made my sales guy find a 535i with a manual. There were like 3 in the entire country. Love it and will never go back to the BMW slush box. BTW, get the shift **** from a 330i performance package car. Almost like a short shift kit since the stock shifter is way too tall.

Agree totally on the daily with a stick. Will replace my slow to respond x5 auto (4.4) with a new daily in the next year, and would love a GTS 6-speed. The wife's 650 CiC tranny is awful. Slow, clunky and the software is sloppy. Worst part of BMW ownership if you ask me.

I've driven C2S and Cayman PDK - excellent! F430 F1 - excellent! DSG - not bad. SMG - crap. E-Gear - crap. But nothing can replace the heel-toe connectedness of stick. It will always be my choice on a sports car for the street. For track use I think paddles would be better.
There will not be a GT3 or RS with PDK. In future a CVT is possible.
