PDK C2S UnBEEELievable!!!!!!
Man O MAN!! I drove a NEW PDK C2S today and the car is unbelievable!!
The acceleration is Turbo like, the handling is GT3 like and its really almost too good to be true. I mean really as much as I like the TT and the GT cars, the PDK has made the 6 speed a REAL option and Porsche has made the line between those VERY blurry!!! I dont know how to explain it words dont describe what I went through. Really I have been doing this (going to the dealer, the track, the street) since I was 20 in the 70's. And yes I was blown away by Turbos, the 911, 928, and even 944s. But THIS car is just incredible!! I havent driven the NEW GT3 or the TT but I just dont see how they can be that MUCH better than the new C2S. Jack has one and I hope he chimes in to back the C2S up. The Launch control was neck breaking, the handling was GT3 inspired. The luxury rivaled the AMG I drove over there. Well it was even better. And that was just a side note.
The shifting was ahead of what I was thinking and much better at Idiot behind the wheel than the AMG 7 speed with throttle blipping. When I say ahead of what I was thinking I mean it did what I wanted before I realized what I wanted. The C2S with me would beat the GT3 with me at the track every time
(unless I get some more skill).
Really I have been told to go drive cars at the dealer lots of times but this time there is no better way to tell one how to this car is, or explain it. Its just the best car I have ever tested at the Porsche dealer ( I have only driven TTs(996 and below) and regular 911s (no GTs) at the dealer)
Its a great car and it will do what 90% of what us GT guys want a car to do. I dont know if its fair to call it a sleeper but so much FUN!!!!
I saw the new GT2 Carbon seats too and they are a work of art. The back seats in the car (C4S) with the GT2 seats COME OUT!!! for track work!
Bottom line---> Great car and if your thinking NEW TT or GT car the C2S is definately worth the experience!!! Please I think its YOUR DUTY to drive one before you buy anything else!!! The New GT2 GT3 and the TT MUST be works of ART!!!!!

Glad you followed the advice and went for a test drive. Bob Rouleau has spent a week-end at the track with his and has only but good things to say about it. Yesterday at the track, some folks were talking about buying 3.8 C2S with PDK and stripping them out for track.

My whole thinking today was how is this car going to be at the track and I could think of no downside really other than the sleeper looks. Buy an aeropackage and youre done.

OG, you need to visit Alex and drive the Tadpole!!! That will be like a religious experiance if you were that impressed with the stock PDK C2S!! With what they have done to that car it is the closed thing you will get to a GT3. I was impressed and I drove it hard over my roads. It's a badass car!! I just don't like not having three pedals.

John, I also herd that 3.8 in cayman are not that great. Good for street cars but too much chassis flex once tracked hard. Same guy also had that in mind but was strongly advised to go different route. Anyhow, hope Bob will drop by and report his experience. Even though I haven't tried it myself, I have herd more then enough to think that this box his a wonderful piece however yesterday at the track, I was talking to some guys who still thought it was just another ****ronic box.

I have 7000 miles and 5 track days on my Carrera S PDK. It is really a very fast car! I am turing a 2:29-30 at Sebring and that is 6-8 sec. faster than my 07 C2S. PDK is Sport Chrono PLUS mode and the lowered Sport PASM woth LSD at the track is amazing. I really believe that the claimed 385hp is really under rated and with PDK the power stays on all the time with the very fast and positive upshifts and the fast rev match down shifts.
I was able to pass 996GT3's with ease and able to stay with 997 GT3's..even passed 1!

I dont know if I believe that 385 number either. The Salesguy used Launch Control and that was more than most 996TTs I have been in or driven. I dont know but that sure felt like 400+

I was unaware that PAG had officially committed to the PDK in the (pending) GT and Turbo variants.
Perhaps they now have enough confidence in long term reliability at the hp/torque levels for these models, such was not the case prior.

I'd guess that since the Panamera will have PDK, they have versions which can withstand 500 plus HP .....

Three Wheelin'
In the Excellence article on the new GT3, A Preuninger (performance division head) states that there will not be a PDK tranny in the new GT3 due to (1) weight (66lbs) in the wrong area affecting car balance, (2) problems with fitment to the GT1 block, (3) its length causing 'packaging' issues, and (4) "customer preference". P.49.
Is there other info out there which trumps this ?? Link ?? TIA
I should also say the PDK is d*mned impressive (exp at the PSDS recently) ...
