Car sounds like a loud rattle snake (driver's side rear) at 2,700- 3,000 RPM. Only when engine is warm, second to fifth gears. They tell me it is because I have after-market wheels and get this: tires. What the heck is an after-market tire. They say that disturbs the harmonics of the car as designed.

Very annoying. I cannot believe how often I cruise between those RPM ranges.

after mkt wheel and tires?? they need some more realistic excuses.

drop one gear and you will be at 4000rpm
i rarely fall below 4500rpm in any car. well maybe the RX350

Paul

I have a solution for you.

How about a RUF RGT. RUF takes the bodies in white, takes the engine apart and balances them and polishes them, install their own integrated roll bar, put in their own suspension, their own wider sport seats, RUF wheels, their own gear ratios, etc. My RGT is a much better road car than my 2004 GT3 or my 2007 RS. It feels much more planted on the road going fast than the other two. Swithcars has a 2001 and RUF also has a 2001 for sale.

I appreciate all the help really. The RS is a beaut!!! But its out of my price range by $25K. The TTs I have been looking at are in the 85K range thats my sweet spot. 07s are in that range.
Prangster I will check them out. thanks
I drove the C2S today with PDK and its INCREDIBLE!! I will write up about it later!!

+1 Mooty, it's the price of doing buisness from the drivers seat!! I do know this; if I drive from my house here on the coast to Healdsburg & back I get in the low 11's GPM!!

Ralph you think you guys have problems? I could park either GT3 in 6th gear and get 29-30 mpg.
My AMG gets 10 at BEST and 3 if I put any foot in it!

I had a 64 GTO Pontiac that got about the same as your AMG when I was in High School, but gas was only $.29 a gal. and $.19 when they had the gas wars. But I sure everyone here doesn't remeber back that far!!! I had a 1956 356A 1600 normal at the same time so it sort of evened out my carbon footprint. Not that there was even thought of the phrase in the 60's!! I don't even think ecology was a word back then, or maybe it was and I was at the race track that day with vasek and missed school. Gheez, I think I'm the real OG here!!!
