Question Porsche Motorsports Front Spoiler

There was a 997 GT3 at VIR with the Motorsports (without front ducts) rather than the factory (with brake cooling ducts) front spoiler.

What has been anyone's experiences with this configuration-good or bad;steel or PCCB's?

Thanks, Carl

I don't have experience with it but have been considering putting one on my GT3 since it seems it would create a nice increase in downforce. It's quite easy to see over the stock GT3/RS unit. I've also taken a look at the GT3.2 and it seems to have a spoiler much in common with the cup spoiler.

That is all my GT3 customers use. GT3s get most of there cooling through the bumper and just a little under the car (better aero over the 996 Cups with the big scoops underneath the car) PM does make a 997 Cup verison with ducts, but they recently stopped bringing them into the country as no one bought them...

I run that on my GT3. No brake cooling issues noted. I have steels

Hope this clarifies:

1. GT3 Cup Front Spiltter - Lower to ground (about 1.25") provides better downforce for race/track applications. It flares lower and wider.

2. GT3 Street Stock Splitter - Not as low as cup, less likely to be damaged in day to day driving, is supposed to deflect more air to brakes, and has less downforce.

Here it is on mine:

If anyone needs one, I can get you a better price, PM me.

There are Cup splitter with and without holes. I ran the one without holes, keep in mind that the 997 GT3 main cooling comes from the air flow through the side radiators and the huge upper brake duct, this was not available in the 996 GT3.

I never experienced over heated brakes with the RS, running Michelin Slicks.

Cup splitter without holes - no problems, even at Laguna Seca. Better downforce and much more cost effective than the 2 piece RS splitter.

I had 2 w holes and 5 w/o holes over the past 15 months. Cost way less and much more downforce from the Factory lip. My 8th lip is on the way from PMNA.

Can somebody point out a good supplier in the states for the cup spoiler?

Default spoiler

I have run the cup spoiler on my car without holes for 2 years without any problems.

Thanks guys for all of the positive feedback on the Cup spoiler. That'll be my next replacement. No concern about height since I remove the spoiler before puting the car back into the trailer.

More downforce, the 997 GT3.2 wears a simliar one, and the lower cost makes it a winner.

I run the CUP splitter with holes. I figure Porsche put them there for a reason.
It is much more flexible than the stock one and cheap at I think $125.00 or so.

Not sure if it has that much more downforce with the holes in them though...
Does anyone know how much downforce with and without holes??
