I read somewhere it's forward of the gas tank. I'm guessing they want it all in one spot for 2WD and AWD cars.

I have a hydraulic lift system made by KW on my 997 GT3 Mk1. The pump and all ancillaries are located in the battery compartment, next to the smaller lightweight battery. Don't see much point in worrying about the weight of the system if you don't fit a lightweight battery either. I find the system very handy to get into underground parkings at hotels etc...

I think it's pretty common for people to buy a lighter battery and tie-down, then locate it i the formerly spare tire well and reroute some cables. If you really start picking at the weight, you can start by draining all but a cup full of fluid out of the washer reservoir ... : )
From the look of the first pic, it does reside in the tunnel, which would make it a completely different design to fit into the AWD cars.

Not concerned about weight. Expensive but I'd pay the price if I thought it would really make a difference. At 1.2" of lift I'm just not sure it would make much difference. From all the posts that I've read you'll still be replacing spoilers on a regular basis.

I wasn't going to get it trying to keep the cost down but ended up with it on the order.
I am not sure it is worth it. I can access my driveway and garage no problem. I was downtown with my 997 just before I sold it and the alignment shop had such a poor approach I thought it would be handy to have on the GT3.
I will probably keep it on the order.

I am still of the impression that the new splitter, much more rigid, less flexible, will not be as forgiving as the old curtain, so the additional height will be welcomed when needed.
Time will tell.

Will it be possible to get some before/during/after pics? I'm curious to see how the air collar system increases the stack height, so you get more pre-load, etc. I presume it requires a new alignment and that would reveal any other changes it might introduce (static ride height, etc.) Seeing the before/after on the spring seat (number of turns of thread below the adjustment lock ring would suffice) will illustrate how much travel was lost.
Does anyone have the compression and extension (full range of travel) specs for 997.1 vs .2 GT3 and RS's? (Jonesy?)

i will ask them to take as many pics as possible. I will not be hanging around while they do the work. doing the cargraphic system, at $3500 retail for the parts it is $1000 cheaper than the KW system and Techart, from what I can tell they are pretty much exactly the same otherwise.

While you're at it, get some solid or semi-solid rear engine mounts and you're all set ... and they're cheap. Well, really, you're all set at the top of the slippery slope of suspension parts, threaded link Heim joints, urethane bushings ... : )

My understanding is that MkI spoiler scrapped pretty regularly at normal speeds. An airlift system won't help here and MkII is 30mm lower. If the new spoiler is as vulnerable as you allude then we all have problems with or without the lift.

Many people who have already taken delivery, have said that scraping was not an issue. Obviously, driving conditions will vary greatly and I'm sure this is not based on below ground parking etc.. but it is encouraging to hear nonetheless. I'll pass as it's too pricey imo.
The new lip is about $180 and surely can be had for less shopping at one of the many internet vendors. It is going to scape with or without the lip, imo. I'll plan on changing mine once or twice a year.
