about the racing intercoolers I can only tell you what the team "AD-Sport" told me about what they measured during the season in races and they claimed 11°C above ambient, I'm always willing to let you do a test, so we also know if it's all true or not, let's see as more tuners are starting to test them.

Looking at the detail of what you say - at 25DegC Ambient 9ff saw a maximum increase of 18DegC.....

This clearly does not correspond with the data you presented earlier (below) where at 0.75DegC ambient there was a 20.35DegC increase (and at only 6000rpm , not at 360kph !!)

We can see from the Cargraphic data that at 0.75DegC the temp rise even on their Hi Flow cheap versions should be below this 20degC rise...

Numbers don't add up.

We need some testing standard, there is some funny data knocking about and I guess some vendors wanting to move inventory would not be past even altering Durametric data in an exel file, this would be soooo easy to do....

reason for that is this one has different finning and that was to compare something, so in other words not the same spec intercooler, the data from 9ff I don't have but I know that they have better finning in the intercoolers but that is details.

Let's set up a meeting and we can use your car to run the test, that way there's no confusion!

best regards, mando

Posted by Champion Motorsport about the testing of their new intercoolers:

the AT sensor in the front bumper was showing 65F Ambient temperature, and under full load at 2450mb boost we logged 73F in the Y-pipe!! ZERO knock control activation !!

Technical Director
Champion Motorsport

I somewhat sarcastically posted below on 6speed in reply

"under full load" ? so 6th gear ? how long did you manage to keep the boost at 1.45bar for ?

Put on this thread to keep analysis of tuners/manufacturers testing "methods"

More about those new championMS, those are in fact the ones cargraphic sells as "special intercoolers", they have a distributing contract with champion, you can see the embossed W logo (werks one) on the cargraphic website (refer on the video below) and have the same number of cooling channels.

Kits are in stock and ready for shipment for 2007 - 2009 997.1 Twin Turbo Models.

Product for the 2010 997.2 Twin Turbo models is fully developed and ready for sale pending the arrival of the updated silicon hose kits. We have a very limited supply of the first batch (fitment verification samples) and can do "in house" installations at this time.

Although the kit was not designed for the 996 Porsche Twin Turbo Model cars, many customers have been quite successful fitting them with minor fabrication. At this time we do not offer a specific "kit" for the 996 models.

Please review the video linked below, with all of the discussion going on about intercoolers, we are confident that this video clip will answer all of your questions regarding our latest intercooler technology.

Did I hear it right ? The guy says they had 35DegC IAT in 27DegC day ???? Utter tosh.... the Cargraphic test on the previous page shows equates to 67DegC on a 27DegC day for these units...... Who can trust this sort of BS ?

Looks like I got censored on 6speed !!

Because I showed a graph of how my I/Cs performed in an attempt to explain what real I/C data is to the all knowing guy in the video, they must have thought I was pitching my wares !

Is it a cultural thing ? These people (Champion) are the second to proclaim "world's best 997tt intercoolers" (think TPS declared the same)....BTW my thread title is a question not a proclamation

I just don't get how an engineer (who according to him has been heavily involved in GT1 racing and turbo Audi R 10 racing) can make such a video about how they build the coolers, make a deal about how they flow and then make totally lame claims about how they actually cool.

Surely it should be ALL about how they cool and the promo should be focusing on the extensive proving they have carried out with logs of results ?

Thing is these intercoolers may actually be very good but the style seems to be so much more important than the substance

Toby 6speed is very quick to "hush" any disparaging remarks about paying sponsors' products. It is all about business. No doubt you have noticed the flood of TPC threads over there.

I don't see how those coolers can be that special. Look at the width of the flow channels. Now compare to this cooler:

Hilarious.....

From 6 Bling:
You have been banned for the following reason:
I know it angers you that Euro tuners can't keep with US tuners, but you need take your anti-american sentiment somewhere else. You're simply not welcome here.

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

Toby, that reasoning @ 6bling is just hilarious! What about the freedom of speech...?

PS. I quoted that banning sentence in 6bling and wrote my opinion about overpriced tunergoodies which are praised over there. The post disappeared in 10', but yet I haven't been banned...

I would send you a set of intercoolers specifically for your testing alone... Just to shut you up I would be afraid you would like them too much and not return them.

Below is the data the guy from Champion shared. At the bottom it is in 5th gear so by 6512rpm in 5th he has IAT of 29DegC at ambient 14.5 DegC... that is indeed very good....
