Leno's GT2
I don't know who that Technical guy is but I'm surprised at his responses.

Jay's "Porsche Tech Instructor" didn't know the exact HP of a 997 GT3......some tech!!!!
"The air coming out the exhaust is cleaner than the air going in" OK, so let's start sucking on GT2 pipes!
Nice to know the GT2 launch control doesn't void your warranty or break the Tranny.

Dear oh dear, that was a weak "technical instructor." I guess if you take a media relations job without any media training, you don't mind standing with your back to the camera, mumbling, nodding and looking like someone just interrupted your nap time. Jay was almost literally carrying this guy.
The video was off target too -- why show a close-up of the rear rotor when the shock and awe is the fronts?
And the Hurley Haywood quote seemed to be wrong -- at least, when I heard him answer the "let's turn off PSM" he said "by the time PSM is helping you, you've made a mistake and you're driving badly ... if you think it's slowing you down, you don't know how to go fast."
Strange that the dealer tech felt the need to trash the tuners and offer to "put a roll bar in it" (something that PCNA does not allow you to order for the car.)
Maybe Jay was reading Excellence recently (when he comments on the history behind 901 and 911.)
Well, all that said, the new GT2 is growing on me and it was a fun video to watch Jay playing with standing starts and launch control. : )

Quite funny & sad.
Fact is that is not Jays GT2,
it's the Porsche Press car (notice the MFG license plate), the car the journalists get to abuse.
So it really was a PR piece

Anyone car to speculate on the price projection of a GT2 versus a GT3? I wonder if the "delta" to swap my neglected GT3 for a GT2 could come into reach (I've got a year or two to wait for PDK in the GT3 it seems.) Anyone see a GT2 for $150K? : ) ... where's the emoticon for LMAO ..

Could well be. Dealers tell me that they wouldn't pick up the phone if someone was calling with one for $150K to trade and don't expect to sell above $175K all said. That could well be a bit of smoke -- especially because I think I see dealers almost literally "stockpiling" GT2's and GT3's. Of course, one man's stockpile is another man's ... um ... pile ...

However, my "guess" is that any stockpiling of the GT3 is probably not by choice. Considering that the start of the 2010 GT3 production run is right around the corner, that doesn't make too much financial sense. So yes, I concur with your "one man's stockpile is another man's ... um ... pile...." statement.

I'm anxious to see how the new GT3 would do on the track, also. For now, GT2 seems to be king of the hill... although I'm not sure many will want to regularly track the GT2.
BTW, if anyone knows of a nice gently used GT2... I'm interested...
