Default How much for RS with new engine??

The new engine is in at Porsche and will be installed next week. It is a base car with xenons, added club sport half cage and fire bottle. Chassis has 7500 miles on it and it near perfect condition...installed xpel before delivery was taken and tinted windows as well before I took it home. When I remove the film and put on a new lip, the car is going to look showroom with a 0 mile engine with any current updates. So....how much should I expect to get for it?

As always, you guys are the most helpful for info on p cars. Thanks in advance!

I really doubt he'll get MSRP even with a zero mile engine. Some might consider it a bonus and some might think otherwise. Only the future buyer will decide whether or not the new engine is worth something.

I agree about MSRP being the upper limit - I think matching numbers is probably desirable for an RS for most buyers.

I agree, no matching numbers for a collectible is a negative.

"Diminished value" is the legal term. Realistically, expect a 20% haircut off MSRP.

Rog...will they let you keep the old engine or let you buy it at a discount?? then the eventual buyer could have this numbers matching engine for rebuild purposes and the new engine as well....perhaps they will let you or the new buyer purchase it from the factory after a rebuild; or do they tear it down to see what was wrong and destroy it after that??

True...I'm kindof thinking the same. Someone in the know would def want the zero mile engine. But, to someone who doesn't know a lot about p cars might see it as a negative.

You're way off base. No way it loses 20 if is loses anything at all of off MSRP. (Crack kills dude)

Man, I've tried 2x to get my old engine. Porsche wants it all the way down to the exhaust. However, I haven't checked into buying it after they get through playing with it...hmmmm.

But, with all said, should I deny the new engine? Nothing wrong with the one I have except the leak.

I wish you the best. My '02 Carrera has a replacement engine and it has been trouble free for 4 years. It is worth less, however. Unless, you find someone who doesn't care, and values the car for fewer miles on the engine itself.

Well thanks, I need it. But, I really don't think it will affect your Carrera that much, especially if it was completed by a dealer. Heck, it sounds like a perfect candidate for a race car build...I believe 02 was the first year for the 3.6.

Porsche has went to great extremes to keep me happy. Took 2 months to get an engine with the right numbers, but I'm sure it will pay off. For someone like me, I would be all over a fresh engine still under waranty. I really really don't want to see it go...I've never enjoyed a car so much. But, gotta take care of the family first. When things turn around, I'll be looking to buy it back or another one like it.

where it would matter
