Actually you can. My 3rd seal that only lasted 2 weeks caused me to be black flagged as I was loosing so much oil

Unfortunately I think porsches current thinking is that they are going to make the dealers order a new install tool thinking that will make it better - I guess they don't see the factory install as a problem

I don't know if anyone is counting but in the short time this thread has been up it appears some thirty or more owners have responded. Likewise I would guess the average seals replaced per car is greater than 2. Now I have heard that the warranty charge back is around $3000 per car so we are talking a chunk of change charged back to Porsche with no real fix yet publicly identified. Interesting

07 RS seal replaced at 2200. Sold at 3500 and no leak at the time. Just wasn't driving it enough. Traded it back to the dealer for my original cost. Ordered a 2009 C4S cab as a daily driver and got some $$$ change back. No sales tax as trade covered the cost of the 2009. 04 GT3 is my dedicated track car. I have a deposit down on next gen GT3/RS, we will see.

f4plt, did you get resolution to your issue ?
Did Porsche define a real solution to the multiple RMS leak issue ?

I have had an RMS leak at 2000 miles, with the seal replaced at that time, and now it is seeping again at 4000 miles. I hope they get this fixed prior to the warranty running out!!!!!

Well I guess I will not be as frequent on this forum and move to the 997 one. I got the word this afternoon that my 2007 GT3 was being bought back. To summarize it is in for its' fourth seal in less than a year, 3800 total miles and has been in the shop totally for over 7 weeks on numerous occasions. I have ordered a 2009 Carrera S and configured it as close as I can to a GT3 (I know there is no way to do that exactly) The BBS forged wheels I had on the GT3 will go on the new car. down side, I will miss the GT3 and it will be November before I get the new car. A "Porsche-less" fall. Not completely as my wife has said I can drive her Cayenne GTS and I do have the '83 SC ( with the Texas heat I probably need to get the air back in it). Good luck to all, may your cars not leak, your grins be large as you enjoy your cars and I will drop by from time to time. Take care Jack

You realize your car qualifies for the Lemon law.

I think, where this me, I would make them replace it with a like car or better yet replace the motor. I am not happy driving my 997s after owning and driving my GT3. I think since owning the 3 for the last 19 1/2 months I have put less than 1000 miles on the S. There is no substitude for a 997 GT3!!

I would tend to agree with you, however, there are no new GT3's and we talked about a new engine (not sure they are available) BUT it would have the same seal. It appears that Porsche has not found a true fix for the problem. I am a little reluctant to go to the 2009 as it will have a brand new engine ... and what bugs are yet to be worked out on it. the have increased the Hp to just below GT3 rated though. The other option is to find a 2008 close to what I want or back way off and get a Cayman S . Back to the top my first choice was a new engine and keep my GT3 but that is not in the cards. To the person that says it qualifies or the Lemon Law you are correct and a fair resolution has been agreed to bay all parties short of a new GT3. Down side is the wait if we go with a 2009. My wife and I have missed more than several Porsche putings this year because of either waiting for the GT3 to arrive and or it was in the shop .. such as Parade. We had scheduled several Porsche weekends for this fall such as Road Atlanta and Porsche Palooze and those are also now in doubt. Life is not fair so get use to it.... at 66 that lesson is so true. Take care and thanks for your comments and concerns. Now i'm looking for some good news.
