How do you post links like that?

I wanted to post that very thread, but my address bar always just has "rennlist.com" when I am in a thread.

Like others have said, track life of the PCCB is a function of braking style and critically, temperature management. Here we're in 90+ degrees more than half the year and ceramics tend to have nasty, short and brutish lives.

This is a take-off disc after four DE days and approx. 12 to 15 sessions. Wear indicators clearly showing, signs of surface stress evident. Judging from the technical bulletin posted by 911slow I'm guessing it's at 75% life or so. I'll probably keep running these ceramics until I can't, at which point I'll switch to Cup steels or my old trusty Brembo Type IIIs.

p.s. you shouldn't worry if you drive only on the street. The ceramics will outlast the car and probably the cars' future owners themselves...

i went through 2 sets of pccbs gen2 on 997s in my experience of 2, pccb's tend to flake apart and chunk with wear..not the usual pattern like steels...post pic of rotors....

Mike is that from a GT3? That looks like a 996 hat to me which would date this to a Gen 1 rotor. Weirdly, the same hats have been paired with Gen 2 rotors in 997.1 TTs, so I can't be sure...

That wear pattern is all too familiar. Looks half-gone to me...

No. I have steels on gt3. Those were from my 997 carrera s. launch car. And those pics were when rotors were toast and discarded.

I think anyone who wants to run ceramics should invest on a proper Movit set.. F1 derived technology pads last 2 racing seasons...

By the time your rotors are gone gone you'd be eating about one set of pads per track event. Looks like you had some more to go on those rotors, no?

Nope. Problem was I let pads get too thin. Most recommend changing pads at 50% for ceramics which is crazy but prob necessary to keep them from looking like this if tracked a lot I threw those bad boys away.

There is something to be said for a rotor with 20 track days on it and no visible or measurable wear

Savy, can you pls give us a rough sense of how much these MovIt babies cost?

I have a sick feelin' that, like J.P. Morgan once commented about yachts, "If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford one..."

I'm not concerned at all about PCCB wear, but I have had an instance, and others I know, where a small piece of rock gets in between the pad and rotors creating a rather deep scratch on its surface.

On steels, you can live with it or replace it because it looks ugly. On PCCBs... doesn't it affect braking performance?
