Pagid P50 "green" race pad - pics + some info ...
- received my Motorsport Pads today
- I ordered the part numbers below
P/N of single pad
996.351.940.93 (F)
997.352.930.91 (R)
- however, inside the rear package, the actual part that was delivered ended in .92 not .91
- i may be incorrect but porsche I believe has an updated rear pad number for 2008 cars and this may be the difference
- contrary to the information previously posted and listed below in the TSB below, the pads that I received "do" have a provision for the wear indicators (see pictures)
Front Pad Picture
Rear Pad Picture
- I'm not a materials scientist, so please do not take this information as fact, but it was previously suggested that the Motorsport rear pad was actually just a thicker version of the stock pad. As my new stock pads did not arrive today I can't actually state this definitively, but to me the rear pad material looks very similar to the Motorsport Front Pad material
- i meassured both front and rear pads and the thickness of both pads is 13mm of pad material
- now, if the .91 pad (which I didn't receive) is different that the .92 pad (which I did receive - even though the bubble wrap says .91) is actually a totally different pad then the other information is possibly correct - or, maybe it is just impossible to tell by looking
- will have a little more info when i receive the new OE pads and can see them side by side
- I don't think i have time to swap them in time to run at Watkins on Wed / Thurs so will have to wait for Mosport on the 19th

Maybe the increase rear brake bias has something to do with it - maybe not

Not to confuse the matter but:
2007 Cup rear pads part number from 2007 Cup parts book:
997-352.930.92 which is what they sent you.
In MJones post of the GT2 brake pad altenate they noted .91 and I noted the .92 per the 2007 parts book in that thread as a slight differnece? Who knows the difference?
2007 Cup Rear Calipers are: 997.352.425/6.93 6= right caliper 5 = left caliper - if your calipers are the same part number you should have no issues - and even if they are not you may still have no issues?
You should also note the 2007 Cup book has two different front brake pads:
996.351.940.93 - p50 - steel rotor which PMNA sent you
996.351.940.92 - P50 - pccb rotor
You note "940.93" which may not be what you wanted if you have PCCB rotors.
PCCB discs for the 997 cup are listed as:
997.351.031.92 - 031 = left disc and 032 = right disc all other numbers the same.

It's technical information with regards to the pad comppounds - and if you bothered to read the other P50 posts, you'd find that this is a HUGE area of confusion.

997gt3north Thanks for all the help and information you provided. You have made it much easier to make a decision. I will install the P50 pads and proceed very carefully--bed them in and then try stops from different speeds on empty roads. If comfortable with the results I will leave on car for the drive to the track. If not, I will change pads at the track. Based on your experience and that of Zo6 I expect that they stay on the car full time.

I don't know why you feel this way towards Craig but he is a site sponsor, has a lot of good helpful info and so forth. Even if he is plugging his business that is great by me as he is a site sponsor and has great deals too.

and he does not sell the Porsche numbered P-50 pads. They have Pagid on them but Pagid does not sell those pads. I have known Craig for 4+ years and he is a good guy.

I think that a call to Germany, Motorsport division should clear up any questions. Their various numbers, including names of individuals, is listed in the back of the GT3 brochure book.
To me it would be unacceptable if there was a questionmark hanging over the correct type of pad material to apply to a ceramic disc...
This happened to a local friend of mine who bought Pagid pads recommended by some "specialist" shop in Germany for his PCCB´s and the result after one track day was pretty worrying to look at. He is still able to use the rotors after this adventure, but I am sure he took a lot of life out of them with this little misplacement. Also, his rear calipers are now closer to orange, not yellow.
