just too close to the turbo to matter? I'm out on the gt2 anyways since I can only afford one 997 gt something at a time

Come on Rich - give us your initial impressions! Like CJ, I'd have to liquidate my Porsche stable AND add some cash to acquire said car... Not sure I want to do that despite all of the rave reviews...

I only drove the car for 5 miles but here are a few comments

-not much faster than a 997TT
-it is alot stiffer than a 997TT
-the car is very quiet like a 997TT

They wanted 40K over sticker for the car which came to 251k...I like everything about my RS better and I have been driving Porsche turbos for almost 20 years. IMHO the 997GT3RS is the best Porsche currently for sale

Hard to justify the money for a 997GT2. I would get a 996GT2 and do the necessary suspension and engine mods and still walk away with over $100,000 in my pocket.

Since I am no where near using all the capabilities of my 996GT3 I will just keep plugging along with it.

I hope you guys are right. I am patiently waiting for quality 997GT2's to surface in the CPO network. I missed my chance with a perfect 996 GT2 a few years back.

Acceleration-wise, the Gt2 is still a touch slower than a stage 2 modified TT (33s vs 32s 0-300kph), and there are even a couple of 700hp kits for the TT using modded turbos. In all honesty though having a stable like yours Rich might make it hard to be impressed!

Peter and that is exactly where I am at, my RUF R-GT2 which sounds and feels NA, and then Moton's and other goodies is just the bargain of a century for what you get.

I think I would feel the same way about the 997 GT2, it just looks so tame and soft compared to the GT3/RS.. It's almost like you NEED to upgrade a few things to finally enjoy it (exhaust/LWFW) being those 2 components, which shouldn't be necessary from a car of that caliber :/

honestly for me, fast cars have to "sound" fast. if a car is too quiet it's hard for me to get excited...I'm wondering what can be done with the titanium exhaust in order to get that growling mean noise that I prefer.

May 2008 evo magazine, they test a CGT, 993 GT2, 997 GT2 and GT3 RS. They say the 7GT2 is pretty much as fast as the CGT, but they like the 7RS best.

I love hearing the 996 GT2 on track. While most of the turbos seem quiet, the 996 GT2 has that "roar" to it.

5 miles is enough to try "Launch Control"
I have heard David Murry and Hurley say that it works perfectly.

Turn PSM &TC Off
Bury the right foot, revs go to 5k wait for boost
Side-step the clutch
Your off

Waiting to hear real life experiences...

It wasn't my car so I didn't want to play with the launch control...
