If you use launch control how much of the useful life of the $550 rear tire did you just use?
Only us mere mortals would worry about such trivial nonsense but then again us mere mortals wouldnt be Driving GT2's

Thanks for the feedback Rick. Like others on this board, one of the great aspects of he 996 GT2 is the sound. I was really hoping that the 997 GT2 sound would be intoxicating. It will be interesting to see what comes up around exhausts aftermarket...

Regarding the sound, at Lime Rock last week, there was a yellow GT2 there. I was surprised at how quiet it was even at WOT down the straight, BUT the sound was absolutely fantastic: a deep, menacing, almost feral-***-turbine growl that was unmistakable after I heard it once.
Unfortunately, I did not get to speak to the owner about the car, but while the GT2 is quiet, its exhaust note is wonderful. I wonder if there's a nice little plug you can pull in the engine compartment like in the 7GT3...

RUF exhaust would complete the 997 GT2!

It's been at least a year since I've heard a 6-2 at the track but I would agree that it was louder than the 7-2, but imo the 7-2 trumps.
Now, how to get the GT3 to sound like that, but at its present, (unplugged, stock) volume...

I doubt a bypass equiped 997 GT3 would pass sound regulations at the track though eh, bummer.

Stock 996 GT2's seem louder then the 997 GT2's, although im basing off videos as I haven not heard or seen a 997 GT2 in person yet, can't wait though!

The great sounds of track days are a big part of the draw for me.... RS's and GT3's, GT2's, over clocked 951's, the occassional 928....every Porsche.... it is just a symphony of valvetrain, intake and exhaust. Yowza
I have to calm down now.

Burning Brakes
128 cars for MY2008 for the US (according to my dealer's latest report)
As quick as a CGT at the Nurburgring
Fastest production 911 of all time
I am not surprised its going over sticker at all. In fact, I would be stunned if its not, when Nissan GTR's will be $30K over initially.
I don't think a test drive on Wilshire Blvd is an accurate assessment of this car's capability. I drove my friend's GT2 for 30 mins on PCH and the canyons, and even that was not an appropriate test for this car's true performance and feel, but I could tell the chassis was stiff and responsive and the steering was very communicative. The suspension handles bumps and curve with very fast rebound and recovery times. Like I said before, it feels like a GT3RS with a lot more power. I like my GT3RS, so what's not for me to like in the same car with tons more power and torque, and a more advanced PSM with launch control built-in?
Exhaust sound? That's the easiest thing to modify if one wants. A lot of GT3RS owners have changed their exhaust too. I know a few myself. In fact, I can't remember the last car that I did not change or modify the exhaust. However, I don't think I would change that titanium exhaust. Perhaps removing some baffles might be good.
And power? Not that I am capable of using any more performance, but I am sure a few tuners will have chips and turbo's for this car within 6 months. Given the same tune, it will always be faster, edgier, and thus more "fun" to drive than a 997TT. I own a 997TT, so I think I can be unbiased when I compare the performance and potential of the two cars.
Mine is on the water. I can't wait!

I just love that sound. You have a truely awe inspiring car.

As for my car, thanks.. It's truly special, for a turbo car it does not even sound turbo'd in person, under WOT, cruising or anything. Partly is RUF's hybrid turbo's, their exhaust and then the LWFW, it revs and sounds NA !
