Hey Ron,

how are you? Looking forward to see you again at LRP.

Man, the wheels are beautiful, but it doesn't look right. Have Kip or the guys at Farnbacher check it for you. If you move the car up and down, does the metal hit the tire? Have it check before tracking your ride.

Keep in touch

Regards

Luiz

Hey Luiz,

The 997S is retiring to street duty now that I bought a 964... It all started with looking for a new set of tires and lead to the RS98s fully loaded (fortunately, with the tires I was looking for). I'll look into the technical aspects (of tires sticking out 1/2" from stock position).

Signed up for much this spring? 4/5, 4/16-17, 4/24, and 5/1 at LRP and 5/14-15 Cups & Saucers @ WGI for me...

Hey Ron,

I'll be instructing for SCDA this year, so I'll be following their schedule. They have 13 events this year which is pretty much what I plan to do. We'll see...

I may stop by at the Porche Club events to say hi. :-)

I had these on my 997 S and the rears didn't stick out as much. Are you sure of the offsets because these look like wide-bodied offsets to me. Other than that they are beautiful wheels.

I'm thinking these are not et 62 as represented... I'll remove them and confirm myself (I'm assuming it's marked somewhere on the wheel - know where to look?).

Not a fan of how the rears stick out. Like it or not, looks like you've got the wrong offset. Also looks like when the suspension compresses, the tires would rub the fenders.

My 12" rear RG5's sit flush, so I KNOW Champion has the right offsets.

I just went to storage and pulled 1 front and 1 rear. The fronts are actually 19x8.5 et 53 and the rears 19x11.5 et 44, which would explain why they stick out so much on my narrowbody. Bottom line, they stick out too much for my taste, so if anyone is interested in a set of as-new RS98s in 19x9 and 19x12 with TPMS, let me know (I'll keep the tires - easier to ship too)...

Why would your 19x12" Champion wheels be too wide for your narrow body 997, but my 19x12" Champion wheels fit flush on my narrow body 997?

It's not the width that's a problem, it's the wrong offset on your wheels.

- i'll bet these wheels came from a quasi group buy i remember posted about many months on 6speed or rennlist that was put together by a new 997tt owner with champion - thus the turbo offset
- i think i remember him saying specifically that champion is only making them in the widebody offsets
- i also remember the 9" and 12" diameters
- if this is remotely correct, the previous owner should have know this

- i could be totally wrong

No, these were purchased on the car from Champion. I found the stampings: 19x8.5 et 53, 19x11.5 et 44. There's the problem - seller said et 62... Spread the word these are available - I'll keep the tires (I need a set) and the next owner can put on some 235/305s.
