- I working on the 265/30/19 mpsc which are almost the exact same in dimensions.

- what I know so far would be this:
1) the inner part of the tire is going to be "very" close to the spring using a stock offset - I'm pretty certain it will rub the spring under load - with a few mm spacer or a slightly more outward offset you will be ok
2) using a stock offset, under load you will rub the fender - the fender will need "a little" baseball bat work
3) under full lock, you will very likely rub the fender liners - a little work by a shop to adjust the fender liners inward a little will fix this problem

so yes it is doable

but, i wouldn't show up for a trackday without first testing it as i'm 90% certain a little work is required

alternatively, just raising the ride height might also just work

michlin does not make a 255 tire.

That is the tires I would love to run on my car. I have tried the 315 rear and 235 front and it was terrible. I am in talks with John at CCW. He has a set of these tires and a 997 Gt3. He is going to do some testing this Tuesday. I will call him wednesday and let you know what the outcome is. On the other hand Porsche gets the GT2 to turn with 325, 235. May be a different set up and a 235 could also work.

wow man this is what i'm working on now with john at ccw also, when i last spoke to him last week (i think wed,) he said they would be testing this week, when did you last talk to him?

he has a set of c10's ready to go for me when he finnaly figures if this is going to work.
other wise its going to be the toyo r888 or ra1's 255/315 x18'' setup or the other is hoosier in 255/315,x18''
but what i really want to run is the mpsc's. 80 track and 20 street.
and as of today on tirerack site thease tires just came in.two mounths ago i was told to go with 18'' vs 19'' due to availbiaty.
but the other reason will be the cost 18 alot cheeper.

yea please let me know soon as you hear something.
thanks
stuart

Stuart,

Will you be at VIR march 14-16? I last spoke to John today. He is swamped as usual. I ran R6 245, 315 last year and the car felt great.

Stuart,

I would be hesitant to try the 255. They are a lot taller than stock especially when combined with 315. You may encounter some problem with the ABS.

I think the R6's in 245/35 and 315/30 are what I am going to try next. Not impressed at all with the MPSC's in the N spec 19" sizes for the track.

you mean R6 in 255 is too tall
but R888 in 255 should be fine.

i dont remember the aspect ratios of the above two 255 tires.

I just tried Hoosier R6's in 235/35/19 front, 325/30/19 rear on my 997RS.

Massive improvement over the N rated Cups.

Scott,

Glad to hear they worked out.
Other than the obviously higher grip levels, how was the overall balance of the car (highspeed and low speed corners) with the new tires are rear bar

Mooty,

Yes, I meant 255 Hoosier is too tall with 315. On the other hand 255, 315 R888 is just the perfect ratio.

so as of rite now comfirmed best set up in 18'' are-----

255/315-toyos r888's

245/35 and 315/30 hoosiers

the problem with the mpcs's is that they do not make a 255 tire.
they only make a 235, and i'm told with a 235/315 set up you will get to much push.
so if a 265 doesn't fit (mpsc)than we can forget about this brand for a 997 gt3.unless fender work a spacers are used?

i also wanted to use this set of rims & tires 80 track and 20 street.so than this would elimiate the hoosiers.

maybe if the 265 mpsc's don't fit just get the hoosiers, and use this set just for dry track.and ues my stock 19's for back up and street.
