Alum bumparette removed for Euro bumper - 1 lb reduction
Carpet from driver and passenger side in front - 12 lbs reduction
stock exhaust replaced with GMG exhaust - 14 lbs reduction

Stock adaotive sport seats replaced with 996 GT3 seats - 74lbs reduction (as reported to me by someone else)

I am also running C14 wheels from CCW. 32 lbs (as reported to me by someone else)

I figured I would bring back this old thread as opposed to starting a new one. I have been doing more work on the car. Here is new information.
A couple of weeks ago the car weighed in at 3,095 with no driver and 1/2 tank of fuel. Other things have been done to the car than just what was notes above.

The last few days I have been working on it and recorded the following additional weight reductions.
Carbon fiber hood install - 6 lbs reduction
sunroof removed - 27.2 lbs reduction
(note the roof skin is still on with the hole in it...it will be replaced soon with a new skin)
seat belt mechanisms - 11.2 lbs reduction
steering wheel replaced with OMP - 3.6 lbs reduction
Misc items (plastic, bolts, etc) - 6 lbs reduction

total of 54 lbs less

more to come.....

Some threads never die. I am quite amazed by the number of 997 GT3's stripped down for the track. When we were still working on the last of the '05 996 GT3's, we all assumed it would continue (and grow) because at (then) $80K, the 996 made so much more "sense" than starting with the $120K (50% more capital outlay) 997 with basically the same power train and the unwelcome intrusion of weight and complexity (eg. PASM.) How wrong I was!

Thanks a lot. Not sure about Zone 2. We had a blast there last year. When does registration open?

Is that the Cup decklid and wing? Do you run the cup airfilter or adapted to run the original?

Hi

It is a an after market cup decklid and wing. You can buy the deck lid and wing from Getty Design. They are good people to work with and have provided me all the components for my car (deck lid, wing, headlight covers, turn signal blocks, hood). You still have to buy the wing uprights from PMNA. Getty makes a deck lid for our GT3s. It is molded for the GT3 on the underside (uses your factory air intake) but a cup car mold on the top side to bolt the wing to.
