Default Some pics of the 3 taken apart

In the process of putting on a new euro bumper, new wing, Traqmate set-up, new front spoiler, and vinyl design and taking some weight out of the inside.

Will post some pics when I am done. I am learning a lot about the car!

Is it a Porsche-thing or GT3-thing or just the thing about the modern day cars where the floor is no longer flooded with crap, I mean, tar or wax?

rad- can you post some weights for removing stuff? I'm already rather un-luxurious, could stand to lose 50-100 lbs if it's not too hard. that's the cup front splitter, right?

///mous- gt3's have basically no sound deadening in the floorboards, hence that tinking of gravel and sand when you drive up and down pch.

Hey
Yeah, I will post the weights of the items I am removing. It might take me a little while as I have lots of work to do!

As for the carpet, well...it is a new garage so I doubt it will last too long! I found an incredible garage at http://www.majesticcoachclub.com/m/Site/index.php It is a pretty cool place. The guy who developed it also has a car restoration business. There are a few guys who have bought garages to store their classic cars. I have yet to see a motorhome there

Hey Mooty

Yes, I am going to leave it out. I also cleaned out the trunk area of all coverings. I am really just experimenting with it all. I labeled everything very carefully so that it can all go back in if I decide this is not a full time track car.

Default Weight

I weighed a few things today. This has been covered in a lot of other threads too I think.

Removed plastic covers, carpet, foam, tire fill, compressor, and other small items from the trunk area - 14 lbs reduction
Alum bumparette removed for Euro bumper - 1 lb reduction
Carpet from driver and passenger side in front - 12 lbs reduction
stock exhaust replaced with GMG exhaust - 14 lbs reduction

Stock seats replaced with 996 GT3 seats - not sure of the savings here

I am also running C14 wheels from CCW. I do not know the weight difference on the new wheels. I need to research that sometime.

I also added an RS rollbar and an FE

how do you like the GMG exhaust? I think I like that sound the best on the videos...and since my car is gonna be in storage at my mechanics for 6 weeks...thinking that I might do that and the cup car front spoiler lip, as well as remove the trunk stuff.

Default weight reduction

Any downside to removing all the plastic stuff in the trunk? Did all the plastic stuff and tire inflation bottle really add up to #14? I wonder if this makes much difference because when you fill up with fuel you're adding a lot more than this to the front end.

John,

looking forward to meeting you and seeing your car at VIR in March. I see that you are signed up, unless there is another John signed up with your name!

The downside is that this is no longer a "go to dinner and it looks beautiful car". It is a slap it in the *** go as fast as you can track car. I see PCA racing not too far away. Sure, the fuel adds weight but the net reduction is still there. I am also using 86 octane gas because that weighs less than 100.

just kidding of course

Here is a little status report. Nothing fancy but making some good progress.

New battery installed...

Front bumper after the light blocks have been put in...

Close up of light block...(Getty Design)

Pic of FE mount. Not sure I like it in this location...You can also see the chasecam mount and the camera on the roll bar. The traqmate unit is mounted under the seat. The traqmate display unit is mounted on a piece of black metal

Bumper is installed.

A few new graphics from porschestripes.com

Next week hopefully I will get it to the body shop for paint and then she should be ready for VIR in March.
