I wanted to get an idea of what you guys are using for seats in your GT3’s.

I want to replace my stock 997 GT3 seats, then install the harness and roll bar. The 997 Euro seats are not an option for me. I know the 996 Euro seats have been used in the 997 GT3, but wanted to get the pro’s and con’s of other designs and ease of installation.

I’m not a big guy at 5’8” , and 165 lbs. I would use the car for street and DE’s. Something in leather or Alcantara without manufacturer logo (except Porsche) would be nice. Do any of you have a fold forward hinged design with harness pass through's?

If you have Pics of your set-up, that would be great.

both 997 and996 gt3 seats bolts right into your car, no mods necessary.
7gt3 is carbon
6gt3 is fiberglass.
huge difference in cost.
you will fit well in both seats, in fact you will be a bit loose in them.
the side bolster isn't very high so you can get in and out easily for street use.

if you want tighter, try recaro spg. it will fit you perfectly, but these do have logo on them "RECARO" on headrest.

btw, you can buy alcantara inserts for 6gt3 seats from carnewal.com

i just put sparco carbon DTM in mine the are by far one of the nicest seats i have seen or sat in. full leather with alcantera centers i love them!!!!!!!!!!

Do the Sparco DTM seats need any modifications or do they bolt directly in?

I heard the 996 GT3 seats are not available right now. Do they have any issues with air bag warning lights, or can that be disabled?

light can be disabled.... mine went in fairly easy .... had to use brye krouse adapter ... not as easy as my old gt3 seats but much nicer

I've got the 996 Euro GT-3 seats and love them. Very comfortable once you're in there....

If the air bag light is electrically disabled... does that mean the air bag is disabled?

The 996 GT3 seats are 1500 each, they are great.
The 997GT3/RS seats are almost 8000 each (if i recall correctly) but much prettier and in line with the generation of your car.

The foldable GT2 style bucket seats are going to come out soon and a great compromise. Not sure about price, I'm guessing 2000-3000 each. Probably won't be available until a few months after Gt2 product starts.

I think your prices for the 997 GT3 seats are too high and for the GT2 seats are too low.

only the thorax airbag is diabled when i watched the tech work on PIWIS. and since you took the seat out, there is NO thorax bag anymore anyways.

remember the 997gt3 seats are quite skinny... not many people feel comfy in them. I'd say 180 pounds is about the limit... I know that the CGT seats look similair but those could be ordered in standard or XL sizes. Not so with the 997GT3 ones tho

i think 200 lbs if you are less than 6', more than that it's not comfy
