The long answer is, yes you can still keep the 3-point seat belts in the car. I did. I wrap them behind the seats and plug them back into the female end. This way, the lap belt is out of the way, and the seat belt "dinger" doesn't ring when I'm using the harnesses.
Further, the 6-point harnesses are not street legal in Pennsylvania. So, if you want to drive your car on the street and the track, keep the stock belts and you're covered.

jim, nice install.
if i may make an suggestion, get a pari of split collar rings and push the shoulder strap right against each other. that way they are less likely to fall off your HANS (which you should be wearing).
Where can you get those collar rings for the harnesses???

bear with my iPhone here @ airport
Doug ur taller than me so seat us cluser to bar thus I don't think u would be able to push harness right next to each other. But I think 3" may be too far apart. How far the strap are depend in how far ur seat is from bar. Hans website has diagram.
U don't need to wrap seat belt to kill dinger. When u have dealer turn off thorax airbag litenhave then turn off seatbelt warning. I presume we r all bright enough that we need no warning light to remind us to buckle up.
I get my split ring from tcddesignfab.com email him. U can get from grainger or any race shop. $10-20 iirc

George did you install B-K seat belt mount kits to allow your lap strap to be clip in?

Yes, my car is Cobalt Blue. I get lots of compliments and I love the color, too.
The stock seat belt is still in place, plus the new 6-point harness. I did not use the B-K. Dealer installed the harnesses.

So what do you do with the lap belts when you dont want to use them?
In my 996 GT3 I had the B-K clips that allowed you to remove the laps and quickly reinstall ... and I stowed the sub under the front seat cushion of the buckets?

What I do, is I pull the stock seat belts "behind" the seats and plug them into the female seat belt socket... so the seat belt dinger doesn't ding. That's while I'm using the harnesses on the track.
In Pennsylvania, the harnesses are illegal for street use. So, I didn't have them removed and can still use the car for the street and have a legal state inspection.

Hey guys,
I'm on this late, but I have Cobra Racing Technology seats, which are their top of the line, carbon fiber and alcantara seats. They're great, and I prefer them to all of the Porsche seats. I'm 5'10' and 165. Just a thought. I don't remember exactly, but I think they were $3500 each or so at CDOC. I really like them. Using OMP 6 points with them. The seats were so incredibly light, especially after picking up a stock one. Just a thought from a happy camper...
