Anyone uses the GT3 as a Daily Driver?
Hi,
I ran a search and nothing came up. Just wondering how is the 997 GT3 as a daily driver. Anyone here drives his/hers daily? What are the draw-backs, if any.
Thanks for the enlightenment.

i have a 5 series as a daily driver but i drive the gt3 more and more. its an excellent street car and track car. the only complaint i have is on the longer road trips the lack of lumbar support makes my back ache. nothing a posturpedic pillow wouldn't cure though.

The low front end might give you a problem with steep driveways. That's the only thing I can think of.
13,326 miles so far. Driving it at Barber this weekend!

You bet! I drive my car every day to and from work, 9,xxx miles since February. There are no real drawbacks different than all other 911, provided you don't have horrible road conditions. (lack of real storage space, etc) Even with the low ride high I get along fine ( I now know which packing lots I can and cannot easily enter without destroying the front spoiler). It truly is amazing how well this car handles daily driving and Sebring at full tilt! So, if you want to actually look forward to the drive to work, go for it, you will not regret it!

yes without hesitation
4 months and 4000 miles. mostly suburban short hops, few interstate trips, 4 track days
wouldnt mind if it had stability control like gt2 for winter and a third shock setting for heavy potholes. perfect otherwise
i dont see why anyone interested in a sports car would take a c2s over this esp since price is not that far apart for how special the 3 is to drive.

I drive mine almost every day - I find myself even volunteering to pick up the groceries to have an extra excuse to drive. Other than being careful in driveways because of the low lip, this is an everyday car. The way it's geared tall and with all those rpm at your disposal, you hardly every get out of 2nd gear unless you're on the highway. A nice problem...

Folks,
Thanks for the input thus far.
I drive an economy car as a daily driver (base Cayman). If I can convince the CFO, I'd love to trade the Cayman in for a GT3 as a DD.
I have a perfactly flat driveway so scraping is not much of an issue. Also, I have SUVs for nasty roads.
The suspension in the GT3 is not too harsh for the daily grind?

no, i think it is too much work as a DD and too much shifting. and i did do it for a month.
21 miles and sometimes i can do 115 mph and sometimes 15. but you can do 115 in a lot of cars.
seats and sound system are not up to usual DD levels
YMMV

Oops, I forgot to mention that I work at home, so my DD use is usually an hour in the twisties going the long way to pick up at the cleaners and buy some more stinky tuna for the cat...I don't think I'd use the GT3 as a DD if I had to deal with rush hour stop and go every day.
