It's usually 205-210 normal hwy driving! High revs and low speeds, 2nd and 3rd gear driving causes temp to creep up, not enough air! I'm running Mobil 1 5-40 and change oil every 3-4K.

Yes, at the time of this pic, I was running it in 1st, 2nd gear higher revs on city roads in brief spurts here and there. Good point.

If you are hitting 250 on track, I'd say normal, nothing to worry about.

If you are hitting 250 on the road, then you probably have a problem somewhere.

During the summer when Oil temp close to 250 the water temp will increase dramatically to the warning area but the Oil temp never goes above 250 at least in my 2010 GT3,

when the water temp reached close to MAX then warning will be displayed and the engine blower will fail. this happened to me many timed during hot summer and in jammed traffic

I'm a bit surprised reading this oil temp discussion?

My car never exceeds 90°C, not even on a hot day racing in Francorchamps.

Regards

Even with 38°C the car is fine but I can imagine that 50°C is a different story

'11 GT3. Runs around 220 on the road. On the track, hot (100f) day, I see 245 running hard. Stop and go traffic in high heat also can get me up to 240+. Never seen 250, with over 5k track miles so far.

Same here, it's usually 80-90F here and humid. The car can take it better then I can ;-)

Default oil temp gauge

It appears 996 has a battery/voltmeter in the left instrument pod and the 997 has an oil temperature gauge.

On the street 200-215; on a very high speed track this weekend (AAA Roval) with 90+ ambient temps, it barely grazed 225.

Then you should drive faster

On track mine also goes up to 100-110 degrees Celcius. A lot depends on the track. Slower tracks make the car heat up more because there is less coooling (saw 115 degrees C last monday, 23 degrees C outside temperature and slow technical racetrack).

I'm still learning to drive the GT3 so I'm sure my slow driving has something to do with it
