Buyer Beware: Porsche Retractable Breaker Bar
Gents,
This past weekend, after my third track day with the car, it was time to get the car up in the air to do a routine check and clean of wheels/brakes, etc. I had purchased the Porsche Retractable Breaker Bar, part # 997 361 161 00 for removing the CL nuts. I was able to loosen them all without much difficulty but in doing so I actually bent the bar enough so that it no longer telescopes back together. Needless to say, I'm quite disappointed in the performance of a very non-cheap tool made by Hazet in the old country that has a Porsche part number on it. Perhaps it was designed for the original 500 n-m spec and not the new 600 n-m one? Regardless, I'm be looking for a more conventional MAC or Snap-On Breaker to accomplish this task that I will be doing many times in the years to come. Perhaps it could serve a purpose if you would have it as part of your "on-the-road distress kit", but I would have to caution anyone considering buying this bar to remove their CL nuts on a regular basis. Cheers, Dave
