People who do so are a little misinformed.
Still a very cool car. I am glad Bob likes it. I am not giving the 996 back

Keith will be there with his 997GT3 and we'll chase each other around some.

I didn't find that 2nd to 3rd upshift a problem at all on the RS. On the contrary it was far more precise than my old 996GT3. I drove my RS for 1500km and didnt miss one, the 996GT3 did it quite a lot.
Watt,

RR - the 2-3 upshift problem will not be noticed unless youo are carrying some lateral load under hard acceleration. On a highway, it never happens. On a race track .. learn to pause longer between shifts.

Watt - I am curious about the bouncy ride you mentioned. Is this CA freeway hop? I haven't noticed it here except on concrete freeways and only with the suspension in stiff mode. The suspension feels a bit over-damped on ceretain surfaces. Could be resonance in the suspension (all springs resonate at some frequency). Does it vary with speed?

PASM is overly corrective and over "wavey" bumpy roads it tries to correct too much and end up too bouncy. more noticable at very low speeds than higher speeds.

Thanks Doc. I guess we don't have the right kind of roads. They are either smooth or bombed out, mostly the latter.
I did notice PASM reacting at the track - after I transferred the weight the shocks stiffened up, feels a bit weird at first but I got used to it quickly.
