eclou - thans for the correction.
TTRob - it blips just fine, faster than the 996 version. I cannot compare to the F 430 since mine is an F1 paddle shifter.

Great write up.
I think most of your comments are spot on. Though the transmission in my car feels great. Notchy but very mechanical and precise. No problems with 2 3 upshift. I'm guessing that you car may need more miles than mine to get settled in.

I know a few times I have missed the 2 to 3rd shift and went 2nd to nothing / 5th but with 3000miles on the car now I can say that this is the best shifting car I have ever driven by a long, long shot

i drove 997gt3, the feel was different. much smooth. the 997gt3 i drove had less than 200 miles on it. my RS hasd 500 or on it now.
the gate distance (horizontal plane) b/n 1st to 3rd is narrower than b/n 3rd to 5th. however, i am getting used to it now.

Remember guys you cant hurry the shifts in a 911. The syncros just doesn't work that way.
Let me remind you again of the "heartbeat" method. A slight pause, particularly between 2-3, and you will actually be faster. Sounds illogical I know but try it and be patient.

Bob, thanks for your excellent review. However, I find heel/toe on the street with stock pedal setup a bit difficult (anticipate no problems on track)...maybe it's the difference in feel bewteen PCCBs and steels.

Bob,
Great write up. I still have to suffer without track for a while but at least the rain made me feel less sad about skipping that weekend.
Which corner is the "bus stop"? The Esses?

colm, i do use the heartbeat method. i can shift it, it's just not as easy as 996gt3. also, if you blip on the way UP, it also helps.
it's most difficult to shift from 2 to 3 when you are about hwy speed. if you are really hurrying and push the car hard, it shifts fine. i dont know why.

seems you confirmed again my gut feeling, nice car, marginally better than 996GT3,probably not any better than 997GT3 and not as mind blowing as we all think an RS should be.but if ya gotta have it,ya gotta have it

Great write up. I was a bit disappointed that you had some rain at the track. I look forward to the apples-to-apples comparison on a dry day. Nevertheless, this post has convinced me to track the "6" until I am out of warranty, then look for a "7" RS as the next track car...
Thanks!

BobbyC - The pedals are too high to heel-toe on the street because I never brake that hard on the street. I heel and toe at the track only and the pedals are set at the proper height for heel-toe at threshold braking.
Andrei - I mean the left-right-left right in front of pit out, not a real ess but you could call it that.
All - I hope to have an in-the-dry comparo next weekend at Calabogie. Meantime, I am very pleased with the car.
Noble - I did not consider economics in the equation. If it was track car and money, a Radical might be the best choice for going stupidly fast for less money. I am not suggesting that and RS is a good buy - I can't say and if money is a concern, I think you're right, a regular GT3 is better dollar value... but that remains to be seen. Keith will be there with his 997GT3 and we'll chase each other around some.
Regards,

uncle bob,
please keep on eye on your garage floor for oil. my car has very blown seals at 2600 miles.
otherwise my only comment add'l to yours is the car is very harsh up and down on short frequecy bumps on the street, worse than 996 gt3, but that one negative is vastly overwhelmed by the numeous improvements vs 996.
i am hoping shift notchiness will smooth out with miles.
