Default PCCB Availability

Just in case there was any doubt, PCCBs no longer are listed as a GT3 option on the PCA configurator.

You can't order them. It still shows up on the website, but if you try to order it, its no longer in the system.

Do you mean the public Web site or something internal for the dealers to spec orders?

Dealers received a notice last week or the week before that due to supply issues they are not taking any more orders for PCCB in 07 cars. Not positive if this is for all models but the GT3 for sure. All existing orders (ProForma) will be honored but might be delayed. My May build GT3 was pushed back a bit.

Yup, not available to order for ANY 07 orders; those already ordered before the 4/11 notice are grandfathered in.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a supplier issue and I've heard '08 GT3s (you didn't hear it here first) are going into at least the PCNA system with PCCBs.

It's not as if ceramics don't work, but I think Porsche has only now finally got the cooling right. It seems they're working okay on 430 Challenge cars.

Of course, we'll know for sure PCCBs are ready for prime time when Porsche puts them on the Cayenne and the Panamera.

SGL Carbon stopped production at their main fiber plant during the first quarter because of a "technical" problem. So if they lost 2-3 months of fiber production and the bake (at a different plant) time for the discs is measured in months that might explain the planned shortage at the end of the year? They also have a new factory coming online in 2-3 months but I don't think that is related?

There may be more at play than technical and production problems. Look at what has happened to the share price in the last nine months. Check the volumes associated with the timing of major movements and one has to wonder what is going on.

Any conclusions anybody draws are entirely their own.

Does this mean that disc replacements are as of yet not available?

Hmm, sounds like maybe they're in some financial trouble. Why wouldn't P have a couple of back up suppliers? Not too sure how many other CCB manufacturers there are.

I love how people jump to conclusions. Did you ever consider that more people are learning what fine brakes the PCCBs are and order numbers are going up? Porsche placed orders based upon a projection and now perhaps as the PCCBs are getting good marks orders are going up reflecting this increased demand.
